El Presidente Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Caught up with Ken this afternoon and he passed on his apologies for being away from the forum. I know you will be astounded....but he has had problem with...yes... Telstra Three days without internet had him grumpy. He rang Lisa breathlessly this morning to resend any e-mails we may have sent to him over the past three days. ...we hadn't sent any. If you have sent Ken an e-mail...please send again. No doubt the backlog could crash his server...but he is prepared to take the risk Anyway you will be surprised to know..."It was all Telstra's fault" "Pack of ***** @#$%*&%$ etc etc etc" He particularly blew his top when they transferred him to someone called Akbah who he assumed was in Mumbai... but who was actually on the Gold Coast...an hour away. No problem, Akbah probably deserved the tirade but managed to fix the issue in a few minutes by talking Ken through a few things. Personally....I think Akbah should be Telstra's "Man of the Year".

I think that he can work it out without Lisa's help
OZCUBAN Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Dumb question but if Ken has that many issues with telstra why doesn't he change ??
PigFish Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Damn it! Another missed chance on the gun control issue!!!
Habanos2000 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I thought you replaced Ken with the monkey wearing the fez.
nonameno Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Hello Gentlemen, I just assumed he was carrying Smitty's luggage across Europe! Thank you, Curtiss
Trevor2118 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Dumb question but if Ken has that many issues with telstra why doesn't he change ?? Telstra is one of the better ones.......which does not say much for the others....plus I think Ken's been banned from most others.
El Presidente Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Dumb question but if Ken has that many issues with telstra why doesn't he change ?? Telstra is the only one who provides service out there
sloth Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 A thunderstorm knocked out my broadband once... I got around it by tethering my Macbook to my Droid, piggybacking off its 3G service.
Trevor2118 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 A thunderstorm knocked out my broadband once... I got around it by tethering my Macbook to my Droid, piggybacking off its 3G service. Probably not an option for Ken......
MIKA27 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I'm with Ken in that, Telstra deserved the tirade. Their service is s**t to say the least. Ken should change service providers however in saying that, it all depends on where he resides as often, Telstra service the outer reaches where no other telco would dare.
LeafLover Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Well Ken, it could have been worse. I vaguely remember something about Italy.
CigarmanTim Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 . No problem, Akbah probably deserved the tirade but managed to fix the issue in a few minutes by talking Ken through a few things. jay8354 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Telstra is the only one who provides service out there Seriously, couldn't he just get rid of the phone line. Just use a mobile and mobile broadband.
Ken Gargett Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Ken's been away? i didn't know i'd been away. wouldn't life be nice to have enough spare time to write fiction like that. the only truth is that telstra are scum and that a bloke in billing on the gold coast was able to fix what the technical department could not, but there was never the slightest hint of a request for emails from anyone let alone lisa (why would i chase emails from someone who only sends me bills?). and telstra is still scum.
Ken Gargett Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Seriously, couldn't he just get rid of the phone line. Just use a mobile and mobile broadband. you would think so, wouldn't you. sadly, telstra provides utterly crap service to the brisbane suburb where i live (yes, that would be a suburb in a major capital city) and the mobile hardly works. (ps, for the purposes of this and all future debates, telstra and bigpond are considered to be interchangable scum). i can't use anyone else because, and i swear i am not making this up, telstra don't think that they can provide service where i am. hence, all those that piggyback on telstra, and to which i might swap in a far from perfect but at least not bizarre world, assume that they cannot either. i moved about three years ago. i spent two years telling these morons that i had moved. it was only when i said that i would not get any more bills from them that they actually changed their records. then some idiot rang up and said he was from telstra and he had something to tell me when i verified who i was. but you rang me, i said. but you still have to answer questions to confirm who you are before i can tell you why i have rung. no. but you have to. you rang me, you could be anyone and if you really are from telstra, and i suspect that anyone so stupid would have to be, then i think you work for corporate scum and that you should do the decent thing and remove yourself from the gene pool. but you're supposed to answer my questions. no. but i need to tell you something. tell me. but i can't until you answer my questions. don't care what you want to tell me. and this went on and on. till finally he said that perhaps on this occasion he would forget the rules and tell me (and if i had not been so keen to have nothing to do with them, at the end of the discussion, i should have said that i was now intending to report him for breaches of the privacy act in providing information over the phone without verifying who was at the other end). what he wanted to tell me was that due to my recent change of address (i pointed out that it was two years earlier and he did say that these things are very difficult to get into the system - how the hell is a change of address difficult?), they would not be able to provide service. i said that they had been provided service for two years. not good service but at least something. have we? and so we went on. SCUM!
matthew261 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Welcome back Ken? And cheer up...you could be instead subjected to the nightmarish services of AT&T!
