Hi All

Whilst in Melbourne for the F.O.H get together in June,i tried a cigar i had never had before a VR Unicos.

This cigar was mind blowing, and i said to Mika at the time that this cigar was an absolute Revelation on so many levels,

That terminology has been the butt of many a ribbing :D

So this brings me to my question, how many have had a cigar that has really rocked your world or floated your boat, especially the one's that were a first time smoke, in essence a

Absolutely have, with 3 cigars.

1. Bolivar Royal Corona

2. Partagas Lusitania

3. Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet (Special Blend) had Nicaraguan and Cuban tobacco with an Ecuadorian Habano Wrapper. Amazing! Still have 5 sticks from a mazo of 18.

Happened with a CoRo the 3rd 1 I had...I'ved smoked a total of 5 in my life. It was the 1st time I tasted lemon honey cream coffee hay...I never thought I would taste flavors so pronounced in a cigar...each puff was better than the last... unbelievable! I haven't had an experience like that since. It was from a 3 pack I bought from the cigar czar

RASS - I swear I went blind and deaf for a moment. Only had the sense of taste.

Lusi - once

ERDM Grandes - two separate occasions (I guess it wouldn't be a revelation the second time, eh?)

Afraid I was answering the question too deeply, and whether I had a revelation that made me change my course in life etcetera. To that I haven't, hence 'no vote'.

However as far as cigars go, I usually have my revelations when there is a special moment (quite often involving being on the sauce too!):

- one Hoyo Petit Robusto smoked with a good friend of mine over a bottle of wine at an end of term Law School dinner jackets affair in 2005 (again the moment and the cigar and the booze was great)

- one H Upmann connie no.1 from 1998 on NY's eve in 2006 (absolutely outstanding - pure crack cocaine)

- a trini reyes smoked on a balcony in tropical paradise under the stars (on holiday with then fiancee)

- one BBF at a friend's wedding in 2008 (perfect day, brilliant food, copious booze, perfect cigar)

- one monte no.4 on my wedding day also in 08

Since then not had any 'revelations' as yet but hoping for one soon.

I had this experience with my first Trinidad T. Unfortunately the second stick wasn't as good.

I would say that this was my feeling when I started smoking "real" cigars from Isla Cuba and abandoned the rest. If you have ever smoked the tripe available from the rest of the world and have since discovered the CC, you likely know what I am talking about. -Piggy

Sorry, folks. hit the wrong key accidently. What I was going to say was when I smoked a REAL, TRUE Montecristo No. 2. My socks really flew off - with my feet still in 'em! WHAT a real, wonderful & beautiful Cuban smoke! Love, love, love!

Sure. But for me it's not usually so in-your-face as it is subtle - kind of sneaks up on me to where I find myself just looking at the cigar

with a kind of wonder.

Smoking a Taboada super robusto in Havana's Parque Central about 1/2 hour after the master rolled it. Cigar nirvana for sure.

Oh come on Steve, I haven't reminded you of 'Revelation' this week have I? :D:lol3:

Well, for me, my very first Unicos was a 'Revelation' to me and they have been ever since. Sure, one can find the odd one or two that don't cut it, but for me generally, I'm in love with those stogies.

A recent 'revelation' for me was a San Cristobal Muralla, beautiful long cigar, well constructed, thick smoke, loads of cream, chocolate, cedar, maple, medium strength. :D

Another 'Revelation' was gifted by yourself OZ last week, that was the Punch Royal selection #11. This cigar was a first for me and I found it to be quite a complex cigar which was full-bodied and strong. There was sweetness to the tobacco with flavours and hints of floral, coffee, leather, honey, caramel and cedar. It may be one of the most complex cigars I've had in quite a while.:2thumbs:

Like others have mentioned, partagas Lusitania and, i dare say, partagas short most recently... Being a mostly robusto smoker both ends of the size spectrum offered me mind blowing experiences in flavors on my first outings. I feel like I'm chasing a train trying to replicate my initial experiences, but I can't complain about the joy inherent in the ride.

Twice I believe I've had the 'revelation' experience - with my first Bolivar Royal Corona and my first Monte 2. They were both sublime, they both rocked my world! ;)

I have to agree about the Bolivar Royal corona. I also had that with the Partagas serie D 4.

On the other hand. My first box of Punch Punch years ago. Like they were dipped in wax and made my head spin on the back porch.

Never will forget that box!

Definitely a CoRo. After being blown away by my first one, I just couldn't stop myself from reaching for another right away.

On par with the experience, I'd have to say was a Connie #3 and a 2003 HdM Des Dieux.

I smoked a RyJ Belicoso last week. I read some reviews that only rated the cigar as decent, but it blew me away. I smoked it until it burnt my fingers. The last third was the best part, there were lots of cantaloupe and coconut notes. Maybe I just got a good one, but I'll definitely pick up a box sometime.

A Punch Punch sometime in 2002. CCs were patchy in quality then but I got a good PP and saw the light. I was a CC convert

Last week I bought a single MC#2 on my way into the studio for a long shoot. After we were done and everyone went I home I stayed back, set up a chair in the middle of the room (century old loft studio), put on some Verve, cracked open a bottle off Masi Valpol and fired that stick up...wow...I absolutely loved every single draw. I sat thinking about the beauty of the smoke, how I had just found FoH & CigarCzar, and all the possibilities that lie ahead. It was an epic personal moment after a ball-buster of a day on set.

Well my first revelation would be my first habanos ever, a Monte #2, sitting on the balcony of my grandparents cottage overlooking a lake on a beautiful summer night. Great atmosphere, great view and a great smoke.

My other revelation would take place some years later when I seriously started smoking habanos and I was trying out all the different marcas. Seems when I try new cigars my senses get heightened and I really concentrate on what the cigar is giving, I had some unbelievable smokes over those first couple months, some where you do sit back and just stare at the cigar and think "So THIS is what a great cigar is!".

My last revelation would have been 3 weeks ago on my honeymoon. I was with my brand new wife, sitting on our private section of beach in St. Croix at night watching the moon rise over the mountains listening to the waves lap up onto the sand. I was smoking a Cohiba Siglo VI from 04', a purchase from my very first Czar order. I'd waited years to smoke this waiting for just the right moment and occassion and I knew that this was going to be it. What better way to enjoy such a regal cigar than on my honeymoon. Sadly it was the only one I had and I don't think I'll ever buy any more, kind of my way of going out on top, preserving that moment if you will. The cigar was truly one of the best I've ever had, my personal top 3 for sure.

Poking around in an old cupboard today and found what I believe was my first box of Punch Punch. March 1998. The oil marks on the bottom paper are still clearly visable. I think I've been chasing that cigar ever since!:cigar:

Not happened for me yet but it will soon. I just got my first cc delivery from Lisa last week and I can't wait to see what the hype is about! I just want to make sure they settle first! I am eyeballing the cohiba robustos and the partagas d4 in my humidor right now.
