El Presidente Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 We will run a series of polls this week on what is considered the Kings of the different Vitola's. Feel free to vote and comment based on your experience in order that we can get a clear understanding of peoples thoughts. To make it a tad easier you can select two choices. Preferably Robusto's 2007 - current.
Ken Gargett Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 when on, and almost always is, coro first, daylight second.
dochowl Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I give a definite #1 to the Cohiba Robusto. Always good, sometimes so good you never want it to end. #2 would be the Partagas Serie D #4. If you get a well constructed box, you are in for a real treat.
Arzakon Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Bah I should have read the post before instinctually mashing vote for BRCs. The PSD4 is a very close second for me. Too bad I'm usually buying singles at retail prices in countries with absurdly high taxes so I run away from the Cohiba prices. Guess I'll have to give that one a shot some time.
Wicky Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I like the power and depth of the P4. But I'd choose the more refined BRC. Have yet to try a CoRo.
habone Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I've only smoked a few robustos on the list--- BRC, CoRo, RyJSC, RASS, PSD4 and JL#2. Out of the 130+ CCs I've had in my life (I know its not very many and kind of sad) the CoRo gets my vote easily. However, I did purchase a PSP box of CoRo's and I smoked 1 so far and it was a total dissappointment. I don't think they had enough rest in the humi and haven't touched them since. I've had other CoRo's that were unbelievable...my favorite CC so far! I've also had 1 BRC that was pretty damn good to, but I only made 1 vote.
khomeinist Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Trinidad Robusto T I also like the Bolivar RC, Cohiba Robusto, and H. Upmann Connie 1. I love Partagas but would choose other vitolas in that line before the PSD4. As much as we like to criticize HSA, I like they deserve praise for this outstanding, regular-release, Trinidad cigar.
Fuzz AI Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 CoRo all the way!! I remember a b'day party I attended years back where I smoked 4 in the one night. A fantastic smoke, great construction, and loads of flavour. I was just p*ssed that people left half-smoked (some only barely smoked) CoRos all over the joint. Will always feel sorry for my mate who went to the expense and nobody cared.
partagasd4 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I was just p*ssed that people left half-smoked (some only barely smoked) CoRos all over the joint. Will always feel sorry for my mate who went to the expense and nobody cared. I know how this feels. My best friend (who's not a cigar smoker) got married recently, and he went through the trouble to get some cigars for the wedding. The cigar smokers thoroughly enjoyed their cigars, but the cigarette smokers left theirs stubbed out after the first third.
jsd Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I love PSD 4's and Short Churchills. I also love the BRC and Epicure no.2, but the first 2 stand out with more prominence in my memory.
archosaur Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I voted Trini T. The best robusto I have had in the past year for sure. Based on only trying 8 of the 13 cigars on the list though. I'd probably vote PSD4 my number 2. Only have had a few CoRos but they just haven't done it for me. Would vote VR Famoso a close #3 based on recent experiences.
ZinZan Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Definitely the Coro and second for me is Epi 2. Havent tried the PSD4. I'm suppose to get a box of this from Cuba, i bloody hope its the real thing. The amount of postings on fakes even purchases from Cuba is really freaking me out.
bigfunkyg Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Gotta go with the CoRo as well although I feel as if they are going through a bit of a dark period right now. My last two boxes have not been up to snuff, but maybe they need bit of time. Honourable mentions go to the RASS, RnJ Short Churchill, and BRC. G
habanablue Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Can't believe the RASS is where it is on the poll!
Fuzz AI Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Looking at the votes and I'm dumbdfounded... somebody voted for the Monte Open?! No offence, but are you serious?!?!
yossie Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I did for Monte open. It was just kidding. I've never smoked that crap.
Michel1968 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Difficult... BRC, RASS and Robusto T are my firm favorites. Had to choose one: BRC yet I'm already asking myself for not voting for the RASS. And what about those great moments with de ERdM CS when it was so hot over here or the Famosos that got me into Cubans in the first place...? D4 is good but just doesn't do the trick. Strange, got it all; strength, depth, complexity but sometimes it has this sluggish feeling over it. Cohiba is also good but for a few Euro's less I can have a 'much better' Trini T so it fails in the price/quali range. Epicure 2 saw too many wrapper/binder failures, Upmann C1 and JL Sel 2... why bother as they have the Mag 46 and Sel 1? R&J never lives up to expectation altough the Cazadores is a mighty cigar! Let's say every time I light a BRC it feels like coming home...
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Trinidad Robusto T leaves the others for dead. However, the most enjoyable Robustos I ever had were the Dunhill Cabinettas.
PADDYWHACK121272 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Can't really argue with CoRo, D4 and BRC for top three in whatever order you fancy. Would pick a good JL2 over a RASS any day of the week though. Have not had Trinidad T yet but from what I hear it might shoot straight into top three....
Yoruba Hacker Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Robusto T by a lap. The D4 and CoRo are living off reputation, and the BRC are just coming back after having fallen off for years.
