Partagas SD4 Robusto Sampler from the Prez and a little home brew summer ale! I'm pretty sure the last SD4 I had was a knock off as this one definitely has that green pepper and almost a touch of something close to cinnamon! Very pleasing. Are the shorts this good? If so I might have to back out on my promise to myself, of staying off 24:24 for a while. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk8 points

It's National Trails Day in the states and I did my part to help build a new trail along with about 70 other volunteers. It's pretty cool to start the day with a line of flags and end up by lunchtime with a hiking trail. Before: After: I'm more sore than I care to admit and I'm pretty sure I'll feel worse in the morning. But for now I'm resting comfortable with a BAM Jun 12 RASS on the upper deck.6 points

This was the only one of these I brought with me for a week in the Lake District as I figured it might be too light for the campfire of an evening. Plenty of Quinteros, Cazadores and Party Shorts filled the box for the week, but I chucked this in as I like them, simple as that. The weather was wet and the air damp at the start of the week, but I sparked this up and it held up well in the difficult conditions. It lit well and burned surprisingly consistently throughout, and importantly didn't split as I thought it might given the damp air. Sweet chocolate mixed with a slight earthiness to start, hints of spice but only a touch. The chocolate/cocoa flavour built as the cigar burned down and wasn't lost in the fire smoke that wafted across me. I love the Monte 5 and this just seems like a fatter version, giving more thick smoke and something to chew on. The earth flavour gave way to wood later on, but still playing second fiddle to the cocoa. Ended quite strong, which was a surprise and a welcome one at that as the fire was having trouble with the wet oak and was kicking out plenty of smoke for a while. All in all it did well in the evening, but I think it generally requires more civilized surroundings... Thunder & Lightening '75-'154 points

This is the last of this box code in my possession, unfortunately. This delicate Colorado wrapped robusto sized cigar is impeccably rolled, with perfect draw. From my experience these lighter reddish wrappers have been absolutely delicious, so I had high expectations. Igniting this attractive cigar released plumes of rich oaky smoke, signaling the start of a sensual flavor journey. The early flavor profile is earthy and slightly sweet with a hint of cinnamon. Body starts out as moderately medium. My chosen libation, a Guinness Rye Pale Ale, has endeared itself to me as a nice treat from an 18 pack sampler I picked up. The slightly bitter richly hopped ale is a good refreshing drink to cleanse the palate. The second third amped the body slightly, and the rich oaky aroma was joined with Cuban twang, proving very pleasing to my nasal senses. The flavor is incredibly balanced now with some cedar tones, and what seemed like sweet paprika wafting in periodically. The last third continues to evolve slightly, and remained pretty cool. I've been trying to smoke slower of late, which helps keep the cigar cool, but sometimes leads to extinguished cigars. Not this SD4, it has burned flawlessly, and never once extinguished. Towards the end the flavor continued to alternate cinnamon and paprika in and out. Lovely! I wish I had more from this cab of SD4, they have been rewarding. 2002 continues to prove it was one of the best years for Cuban production. I rate this a solid 9 out of 10 on my personal scale, a delicious and solid medium bodied cigar, moderately complex, and quite fulfilling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Late bid on this one, because no-one else has. You've probably got a few knocking about and with good reason. They're cheap and in the right situation they're a good choice. This one comes from a May '14 box I picked up at the start of the year and I'm 2/3 of the way through it. A great cigar for doing other stuff with, I took a few with me last week for a camping and fishing trip - today I'm sorting out the lawn after relaying the turf a couple of weeks ago. The wrapper is a bit knarly, the cigar slightly soft to the touch, the draw is perfect. It's not complicated - toasted tobacco, touch of woody background, very slight pepperyness, medium strength - and that's it start to finish. These can be rough young, but this one's very smooth. It's very tasty, it hits the spot and it doesn't need to be over analyzed. 45 minutes of Cuban cigar for a couple of quid - can't argue with that. Thunder & Lightening '75-'154 points

Tonight, I join the big leagues. Bought this Siglo III from a BOTL on a Canadian Facebook group. It's been resting since 2013. My first real Cohiba since I've learned how to somewhat smoke properly (I think I bought one 20+ years ago punched a hole in it with my Swiss Army Knife awl and probably smoked it 87 times too quickly. Hadn't touched a cigar since until about 2 months ago.)4 points

SLR Spanish ER from last year. Snatched three boxes at retail of these, halfway through the first. They will get better, no doubt, not a bad stick as it is. The rest will go back to the back of the humidor. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk4 points

On hearing the front door slam I knew my girlfriend had left for work, and it was time to begin what I had been looking forward to all week-to smoke a Robaina Don Alejandro for the first time. I was lucky enough to buy one here in the uk with a bit of age on it, as I have been reading they need at least 3 years on them to shine. It was a lovely sunny day for a change, and I settled in the back garden with a couple of bottles of cider. The cold draw was offered sweet tobacco, and a medium to firm draw. 1st third Sweet chocolate from the start, in a creamy smoke, lovely. Just under medium bodied. Some hints of nuttiness too, like roasted almonds and wonderful aroma. 2nd third Earthy nutty aroma stronger, less creamy body, also stronger in taste. Last third The creamy nuttiness gave way to a peppery black coffee, bit like a partagas d4 in my opinion, and a big nicotine hit which needed me to chase down something sweet. Totally full bodied at the end. I loved this cigar, and I took my time with it. It lasted 2 1/2 hours (and needing 3 bottles of cider with it) and I wished it would have lasted longer !.It never went out, and only needed 2 touchups to correct the burn. There were definate flavour transitions as you smoked it, which is not always what I experience with other cigars even though others do. Can't wait to get a full box while they are still available.3 points

Brought from 24:24 in April was about 5 weeks old when smoked. First review and first cigars I have purchased from the forum. Nice smooth draw when dry and lit Well constructed feels firm great wrapper good cap nice cedar fruity smell with a little spice when unlit. First third nice and smooth mild tobacco a tiny bit of coffee changing to a little fruity taste starting to get sweet honey taste. Second third really long ash did not think it would ever fall off. Getting cedar now and still mild and sweet very smooth at times got so smooth I am thinking has it gone out can taste mild smoke but felt so smooth .Towards the end got a surprise with a bit of a mild nicotine buzz. Final third consistent and mild still sweet burned even all the way down and not much heat at the end was very impressed with this cigar made a lot of nice white smoke very relaxing would buy again a very relaxing cigar smooth and consistent will be interesting to see how these age. Would buy again. Goes well with beer think it would be great with a red wine lasted longer than expected would have been pushing an hour and three quarters. A very well made cigar with a beautiful taste I give it a 92 out of 100.3 points

Woady, your climate in Houston is almost identical to ours in Mobile. If you are running your central a/c almost constantly, as are we, I'm willing to bet that your ambient rH inside your house is around 55%, if your a/c is working properly. All I have to do to dry box, which I rarely do, is simply move the stick from my humidor, which runs low 60's rH, to anywhere in the room overnight or for a day or two. Instant dry box conditions. This is the room I also smoke in. If you smoke all your sticks outside in high rH/high temps (90/90), any larger ring gauge cigar is going to fill with water before you finish it and it will become harsh tasting and will have burn issues. Not much you can do about it, except move inside an air conditioned environment to smoke.3 points

If I would have that kind of money to dish out $4000.00 for 6 cigars than I could have flown there to get them personally and bring them home.3 points
