PigFish Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) Sorry Rob!!! You don't get to bash their newest product, push a button and get me to kiss their collective asses and beg them for forgiveness. Why should I say they are doing great when I am one of their biggest critics? I am a consumer... a good customer... aren't you asking the wrong party for concessions? I no more owe them complements on their failures than I owe GM complements on theirs! I love their cigars, well a lot of the traditional sizes and brands anyway. They are the best cigars in the world. By selling of a portion of H SA to a partner for a considerable sum they should be getting some advice, better advice than they have been getting, or maybe they should be taking some that they are not. Screw the feel good xxxx Amigo! That stuff is for friends and colleagues that are friends like you and I, not major tobacco companies xxxxxxx up their traditional product lines for the latest trends. You want a complement from me to you... sure; we're Mates. You want me to complement H SA for cutting good cigars and replacing them with expensive shitty ones???? Bugger off! Rob! Mate! You are a sly old fox, you know that? You know damn well that when you ask for reinforcement some of us suckers (like me) will take the bate and spew the truth. The truth is what they need Mate, not a button that says ejaculate here! You know it and I know it too. Collectively I think they are a bunch of dumb xxxxx! Yeah, I said it. If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times and perhaps it may stick this time. YOU DON'T SELL OUT YOUR BEST CUSTOMERS FOR THE TRENDY ONES!!! When times get tough the golfers will still pay the green fees and pass on the expensive cigar. It is the SMOKER that will pass on the day of golf, BBQ with his family and smoke a Habanos! Here is my advice. Put your rollers back to work and sell us some of those cigars busting down your warehouse shelves. xxxx the box, forget the bands, tie 100 PC's in a yellow ribbon printed with, "Thank you from Habanos SA," wrap them in cello, apply a brand stickier and sell 'em to me for $150 bucks!!! Okay.... for the thick headed amongst us what does this accomplish? It sells xxxxxxx cigars!!!! Good quality, regular production cigars without the fluff. It keeps rollers rolling and gets people to smoke more, or at least buy more quality cigars in quantity for less money. IT MOVES CIGARS! You don't want to damage your prime market? Stupid thinking but I'll play along. Bring back the Diplomatico line. Offer well made, balanced, pungent Diplo's in all the traditional sizes in 50-100 cigar cello'd wheels and half-wheels. Sell us good xxxxxxx regular production cigars in sizes like the #1, 3 and 4... put factories back to work and make a little coin in a tough economy. How about some lessons. I don't wish to be cold, but I no more think about Cuban rollers when I smoke a cigar than I think of an autoworker when I drive my car. Cigar smoking is hedonistic, it is about me and that is the way it should be. I understand Cubans are prideful people. Do they want me buying cigars because I feel sorry for them? I doubt it. They want me buying cigars because it helps them put bread on the table and they can do it with honor when I say that they make the best xxxxxxx cigars in the world. That is the complement... that Cuba is on my lips and in my humidors. If the roller has got a beef... and he/she does, it is with the company that misreads markets and mismanages assets. They (H SA) can't make a silk hat of a sow's ear market. You can't expect banking to fail, real estate to collapse, auto industry bellwethers to fall and cigars to make a come back. Only a dumb xxxx raises their prices and closes factories! Do I need to repeat that? Communism is a stupid, failure as a concept but has it really blinded H SA completely to the concept of markets? Why don't I just mail them the money? Is that really what they think? I was not put on this planet to contrive 'good feelings' for H SA. If anything the roles are reversed. I am their customer, not vice versa. I give them a vote of approval when I buy a cigar; they should expect nothing more from me. I want them to roll quality cigars that I like... not one that might be liked by some bloke in matching Izod colors hitting a ball named after a rabbit! They can take their golf shirt colored bands and hang themselves with them as far as I am concerned. My advice is today as it was yesterday... Stop crapping in your own nest! Bring the cigar back to the common man and sell the rights to the pastel pinks and honey flavoring to another cigar company. Roll real cigars in all sizes for real men to smoke. Give the man his money's worth and some choices, some good smoking for his coinage and he will come to you. Sell me 50 BBF's in cello bulk pack, band-less, with a yellow ribbon. A single sticker on the front saying Bolivar Belicosos Fino on the front will do. Have a roller sign the sticker. Sell me the bundle for $150 bucks and I'll find some money in my budget and I'll buy some. Or... continue to produce behemoth, overpriced, awful cigars with two bands and put them in shiny boxes and I will continue to ignore them. The choice is yours. The economy is tough. Fill your humidor, or mine; work your people or lay them off; the choice is yours. My gift to H SA is the time I took to write this. This advice should make me cigar-man of the year, but alas it will likely only bring me criticism. -Piggy Edited July 12, 2009 by Colt45 Edited for language. Sorry guys.

Guest RobertU Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 +1 Piggy! Nice work. With the Internet around, HSA (and all manufacturers) are going to either have to get thicker skins or just ignore the feedback posted. Hopefully they will realize they have at their disposal the single greatest market research tool in history. And hopefully they will put it to good use.

Van55 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Well, I do like the tubos packaging trend. Some of the regional releases are excellent. I'm glad for the Bolivar Elegantes. I hope these meet my very high expectations.
