El Presidente Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 You are on a ballooning trip in Nepal with the wife. Small leakage in the balloon means you may or may not clear the next peak which is rapidly coming at you. You have your whole Cuban cigar collection with you and you need to drop one box to clear the peak. ....which box would you dump? (box code or year if possible...and it must be Cuban). Tell us a few of the reasons why you would dump that box. .....and yes, we would all dump the wife first....that is a given. Play along with the exercise and lets see if there are any similarities from what is revealed.
captain Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 cohiba siglo VI-i posted pics..they are fake anyway. haha. let me know though where you guys are planning on crashing so i can follow on the ground and catch the raining habanos.
beachcougar Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Punch Double Coronas from 99. Out of almost 150 boxes it is the only box of DC's I currently own. Don't have a lot of time to smoke DC's and the weight would help as well.
hoyopr Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Dip #5, OEB Nov 06, these have really been hit or miss, some harsh,a number have been under filled. I've decided to leave the remainder alone for a year before trying again.
greenpimp Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Easy---RyJ Belicosos, 2002. Horrible, horrible cigars. Somehow managed to combine bland and acrid.
Colt45 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 What's left of a half cab of 2005 SLR DCs. Reason1: over the past few years, every sample has been fairly bland, one dimensional, and uninspiring. Up to two hours wasted each time I burn one. Reason2: I keep the remaining cigars alone in a very sturdy wooden humidor. My hope would be that a certain towheaded wine writer / nepalese sheep herder - the one who's talked these things up so much over the years that I bought as many as I did without trying a few samples first, would be directly under the balloon, receiving a blow to the cranium from said sturdy wooden humidor. Though I doubt anyone would notice a difference......
rckymtn22 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 OHHH that is easy! The box of 10 Guantanamera Cistales I bought in Cuba before I knew any better. They are "aging" in the coolerador.
mkz Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This was a simple one!! I would sacrifice my RASCC (POS MAR 07) in a second. The ones I´ve smoked som far from this box has been more or less plugged... Truly dissapointing!!!

Though I doubt anyone would notice a difference...... didn't rob mention my commission? when they are good, they are fabulous. wouldn't a better idea be to light them up and help fill the balloon? but if one had to go, the single cuaba salamones and then the box of monte C's. and colt, no offence of course and nothing personal but it is hardly my fault if you have tarmac for tastebuds.
Colt45 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 and colt, no offence of course and nothing personal but it is hardly my fault if you have tarmac for tastebuds. .......you probably think this song is about you.........
Ken Gargett Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 .......you probably think this song is about you......... you've mistaken me for the local cigar pirate.
aavkk Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This was a simple one!! I would sacrifice my RASCC (POS MAR 07) in a second. The ones I´ve smoked som far from this box has been more or less plugged... Truly dissapointing!!! Wow, sorry I guess Claudius and I got every good box of these from that code. Despite that I absolutely love this smoke I would probably dump a box of these as well. Why, because I have enough of them left and other cigars in my collection which I have less of I really am curious how they will develop with time. Literally every box of cigars I own I am happy with.
mbrody Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 To make sure I clear that peak, I'm just going to dump three to be safe... 07 Punch Punch (same box code reviewed by prez) If you like the tast of cardboard... AGO Dic 07 R&J Short Churchills - more cardboard (thanks Smithy ) Sep 07 RASC - plugged
Guest robustog Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 A box of Monte #2 that , after 10 months or so, still smell like the tape/bubble wrap they were shipped in.
jevb Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 More of a hypothetical for me considering the size of my "collection" but thinking through all the CCs i've sampled... would have to be the Bolivar Belicosos Finos... Tried a single a little while back and it was so strong and powerful I nearly fell off my chair, couldn't taste anything else for a day and a half! I had a monte 2 later that night and could barely taste it I guess its more of a personal taste thing... but I have put them away in my subconscious to try another day when my tastebuds hopefully have developed!
El Presidente Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 I jettisoned a box of R&J Piramides from circa 2002. Without doubt the grubbiest, ugliest, dirtiest tasting Cuban cigar I have ever had in my life,
bolivr Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I reached for the Jul 07 Secretos but changed my mind considering they cost so much and they may just, maybe, one day, make a turn for the better. So its the HdM Petit Robustos Nov 05 that have to go. Only 10 left so to add some weight I take a leak in the box before pitching them...
Kangaroo495 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 In order of necessity 1. Guantanamera 2. Girlfriend 3. SLR DC 2007 (only if absolutely necessary)
harryleech Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Easy enough decision: I'm looking after a few boxes in my humidor for a friend at present. Sorry buddy...
kilroy Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Easy one there myself.. .... I'm dumping the singles trays! Its full plugged half coronas and a couple NCs. ... Ken should be proud
