Trevor2118 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 A post some time back raised the problem that computers in China could not access my website. A solution has now been found. Apparently China was not blocking my website as such, but (as a matter of policy) blocks all websites that use a shared IP address, but they do not block websites (unless there are other specific reasons) that use a dedicated IP address......Eyes are permitted to glaze over at this point....but please read on. So I arranged for my Hosting company to shift the website to a dedicated IP address. Alex has just let me know (he is currently in China) that the website is now LIVE in China, and surprise, surprise....the hosting company has already sent me a bill. The change to a dedicated IP does not affect website users....just access as usual. Alex says some things may be marginally quicker.
