If I wore a watch I think it would have to be a Gérald Genta design: Aquanaut, Royal Oak, or Ingenieur.

If I’m being honest and not thinking at all with my wallet or difficulty in procure, I prefer the aquanaut to the nautilus. Just do. Always have.

Genta’s choice of material for the bracelet for the Aquanaut was bold, and the overall effect of the piece has about it a “frankly I don’t give a damn” attitude that’s compelling as a style, but truth be told, I’m less fond of the bezels on both the Aquanaut and the Nautilus when compared to the Royal Oak.

Fair enough. For me the Nautilus has always held a dress-sport where the Aquanaut was very much pure sport, which I see my RO’s as so haven’t looked too deeply at the Aquanaut tbh. Weirdly it gives off Panerai vibes to me somehow (very strange and makes no sense I know).

Agreed on the bezel and to be honest the finishing on the RO bracelet for me is more attractive than the Nautilus.

In the same camp as you when it comes to the bracelets. The finish on the RO bracelets is, to me, just so much nicer than the Nautilus. Its dazzling especially in the sun.

Also, with my smaller wrist, I just haven't had any luck with anything (newer) from the Nautilus line while the 38mm AP chronos are a perfect fit for me

Attractive dress watch, I think, has a Cartier vibe.

I told her: 'one day I'm going to be able to own that watch'.

I love these stories. Say it out loud and execute!

What a collaboration.

This will always be one of my favourite watches. Was in Hong Kong with my then girlfriend (now wife) and I saw it in the window at the Zenith store. I told her: 'one day I'm going to be able to own that watch'. A few years later after we started our business she surprised me with it on my birthday. Didn't talk about it one time since that moment til she got it for me.

Patina'd beautifully over the years.

Incredible case back.

The Seiko 5 Sports, simple, economical yet gets mistaken for a Rolex at least twice a month. I have a few Tissot, Marathon, Zodiac and of course the Moonswatch.

I usually find a FoH are also friends of watches ... 😋

I have some pretty big wrists so I didn't think there was any watch my wrist couldn't handle. This Patek Cubitus comes close though. It is a 45. I did submit my name for the waiting list though, knowing the chances of being selected are small.

While I was there, I bought this Baume and Mercier. Trying on the Patek made me really want a watch with a green face.  I ordered a brown alligator band, but I do like the way this band matches the chrono dials.

Your chances of getting a Cubitus are very high bud. I’ve been offered a few already from PP along with MANY of their GC models. Everything except Nautilus and Aquanaut is not selling well. The market has changed.

Same for AP, lots and lots of their higher tier models are sitting ducks at the AD and not selling. Just regular RO and of course anything Openworked is really scarce but the rest are almost always on offer.

They will act like it’s scarce and chase you very very soon.

I hope you are right. I spoke to 3 ADs about it and they all made it sound like a long shot. They claim long waiting lists and allocations of like 2 watches a year. Gray market dealers have it listed for more than double retail.

That green dial looks great. I hope you get your allocation. That release certainly got everyone fired up but you can pull it off.

Their job is to:

  1. Make you believe your first choice is a long shot
  2. Try Palm off less desirable models - women’s Calatrava, some jeweled pieces, a few Grand Complications onto you to build some loyalty
  3. Miraculous appearance of your desired watch because you’re such a nice guy and they love you.

I’d be surprised if many or any people are actually buying Cubitus at double RRP. Premium for sure like any sports PP or AP but they’re trying their luck for now. The trend is downward, don’t be hasty.
