(Below) The crisp edges certainly tell a story of not having been polished. Some of the surfaces had a textured finish that, after 50 years, certainly looks dulled... Some of the brushing could use a touch up would be plenty. Orange rubber strap would look neat on your watch. Omega has some used across different lines. 1

Recall people weren’t enthusiastic about the Aquanaut when first released. Congrats to you! Thanks, but don’t congratulate me yet. I am only registered for them. I haven’t gotten either of them yet. 1

Omega has some used across different lines. I have a few 20mm straps waiting on the right watch. Might even be an orange strap in there - but definitely not an Omega strap. I’ll take a peek after I have worn the OEM strap for a while.

Only to find out that they weren’t calling me to to tell me that my Cubitus came in, but that they have a different one to show me. Not to buy today but just to try on to compare with the one I ordered. It is rose gold, and has a smaller face, 40 instead of 45 like the one I ordered. Compared to… Thoughts? Both fit fine on you. Patek’s rose gold is a great hue. That’s my favorite of the two. If this would be a daily wear, the steel makes the most sense — steel, large, sporty. 1

WestCoastSmokin Posted Thursday at 05:01 AM Posted Thursday at 05:01 AM I’ve recently been looking at this Seiko 5 GMT to add as my first watch. Any input or advice? Would this be a good first watch to purchase? I’m very green when it comes to watches, and basically the only watch brand I’ve ever wanted is a Rolex. This Seiko caught my eyes though and I’m considering it. 2

Fuzz AI Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Yep, totally agree with the above. Seiko is a solid brand with great watches. The Seiko 5 GMT is a great watch to choose as your first of many. 1
SirVantes Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Does it matter to you if the GMT function is a "true" GMT, or a "caller/office" GMT (which this Seiko 5 is)?
Fuzz AI Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago The Seiko Presage GMT, Sharp Edge GMT and Prospex Solar GMT are true GMTs.

SirVantes Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 6 hours ago, BrightonCorgi said: What's a "caller/office GMT"? Cribbed from a watch blog: What Is a Caller GMT? A caller GMT, also called an office GMT, is a watch designed for someone who stays in one place but needs to track another time zone. Think of someone working with colleagues overseas or keeping tabs on family in another country. How it works: The main hour hand moves in the traditional way and it doesn't jump independently. The GMT hand is the part you adjust to track a second time zone. You set the local time the normal way, then use the GMT hand to point to whatever time zone you care about. For example: You live in Seattle but work with a supplier in Japan. You don’t fly anywhere. You just need to know what time it is over there before emailing. Caller GMT is perfect What Is a Traveler (True) GMT? On the other side of things, a traveler GMT, also called a true GMT or flyer GMT, is made for someone who actually travels across time zones. How it works: The local hour hand jumps independently in one-hour increments forward or backward. Changing the local hour does not stop the movement, which makes it perfect when you land in a new country. The GMT hand stays locked to your “home” time while the local hour adjusts around it. For example: You’re flying from Seattle to New York. Instead of resetting the entire watch, you simply jump the hour hand forward three clicks. Your GMT hand still shows your home time. 1
