shrink Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 It is just a shame that it looked like a stool specimen. Rob, I'm sure glad you enjoyed it... it was a stool specimen.
habanablue Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 those damn kids! whether it's nikes in thailand or cigars in cuba, you just can't trust 'em anymore! That cigar is unbelievable!
jqmunro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I've had problems from OEB in terms of ugly looking sticks, also.
Smokin_Safari Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Jeez Prez, I wouldn't have even put that thing near my mouth!
tigger Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Better to look bad and smoke well than be pretty and plugged, I guess...but that is really, really ugly. Might want to ask around and make sure your source is legit Rob.
Tiny Tim Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Yep, that's rolled pretty bad! Glad to hear it tasted good and smoked well, but the factory that put it out has to be "talked to"! ;-)
Ginseng Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Holy crap, literally. I thought you had to have experience and a higher rating to roll the piramides and campanas? I have a few recent Monte 2s that have looked about the same. Wilkey
Bolivariano Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 It takes guts to put something like that in ones mouth. WOW. I'm very curious what H SA has to say about it.
Mark Twain Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Similar problem here with a box of ten Montecristo No. 2. Box code is ROA MAY '06. They look Fugly as hell:-(
DrAlejandro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 that does look horrible... good thing that at the very least they tasted alright
CIGARHead Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Like I used to tell my buddies in High School about the girls.....Its whats on the inside that counts:lookaround:
bobsled Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Wow, that is one fugly stick. I guess quality & consistency are not hallmarks of communism? Or maybe they are just trying to see what they can foist off on their customers? At least it smoked well.
ilikecigars Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 dog rocket for sure, maybe from the helen keller rolling club ?
Bolivariano Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 » Like I used to tell my buddies in High School about the girls.....Its whats » on the inside that counts:lookaround: hehehe... But one of the things about enjoying great cigars involves the visual aspect as well.
Digi Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 This is pretty interesting. I've only purchased two full boxes of MC2's and both looked like what I'm seeing in this thread. Not as bad as Rob's but certianly similar to Mark Twain's there. That's a funny perspective...I just thought they all had the rumpeled, uneven wrapper goin on.
winelover Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Thinks it's down to the pirimade being quite a tough cigar to roll for less experienced torcedors. I had a 25 box of PSP2 where at least half where overfilled and had no draw whatsover. Similarly, I had a cigar rolled for me at LCdH London, by a then resident female roller, and her pirimade was also too tight to draw from. I think they can really be touch and go. A vitola that I really prefer to check the boxes before I buy.
El Presidente Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 » It takes guts to put something like that in ones mouth. WOW. » I'm very curious what H SA has to say about it. Received an e-mail from our contact in Habanos s.a this morning. They will be running checks at the Habanos s.a warehouse for Pirimides with this code. They appreciated the feedback and have stated that they will take up the matter with the factory manager as a matter of some urgency. Our contact also wanted to know what day/date is our Havana Festival "Aussie BBQ Night" this year Less than 24hrs. Good start.
wp2 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 It's good that they responded, & so quickly. Hopefully they will work out the problems with one of my favorite smokes.
broozer Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 i've smoked piedras that are rolled with less veiny wrappers than that. bruce
