The Cohiba Talismán, a popular limited-edition smoke released twice by the Cuban cigar industry, won’t be limited any longer. The cigar is being added to the brand’s regular portfolio as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of the Cohiba brand.

The Talismán is a pigtailed smoke measuring 6 1/8 inches long by 54 ring gauge. It debuted in November 2017 as an Edición Limitada, and at the time it was considerably expensive, £65 ($87) for a single cigar. It rated 91 points in a Cigar Aficionado blind taste test. 

The cigar was a popular one, so popular that Habanos S.A. brought it backtwo years later, still as an Edición Limitada.

Talismán is returning once again, but this time as a regular-production smoke. It will appear at a party in London on October 7, celebrating 60 years of the Cohiba brand. There’s no word on pricing yet, but given the increased prices on Cohibas, it’s almost a certainty that the cigar will cost more than $100 for a single smoke.

Put it this way, I remember distinctly @NSXCIGAR stating in 2019 that the re-release of the 2017 Cohiba Talisman LE was in reality 'an Unlimited Edition'. Boy was he right! What foresight!

They have been extremely popular so it’s easy to understand why they’re adding them. That and the absurd price they will command which I’m certain will be north of 150 US. Smoked my first a few nights ago and aside from the damnable near fireproof wrapper it was a flavor bomb.

It's almost identical to the dimensions, if not the shape, of the Piramides Extra.  Seems a waste for the consumer and profiteering for Habanos, as yet another addition to the regular production lineup fetching over $100 a cigar, a grouping where more and more of the limited premium tobacco supply is being directed.

Not only a cynical cash grab, but wouldn't this also devalue the previous releases? (If someone was sitting on them as an investment)

I will say with a standard Cohiba wrapper these could be brilliant. I don’t like my chances to ever smoke one but I can dream.

This opens the path to some easy fraud.  Reuse 2017/19 EL Talisman bands on to these new ones and resell for a hefty profit.

They can announce every stick in the present and back catalogue from current and defunct brands as regular production but if they cannot make them and distribute them it's sort of counterproductive as I see it.  I'm all for expanding the lineup but I'd wait until they can actually get enough out of what they are currently trying to make.

Habanos is marketing. Literally. They do it well.  If I had to give them a score: 9/10

Tabacuba is production. Score  1/10

It's always an increase. Entry point moves up 30% plus cost of holding goods, plus whatever the market will bare.

No, a re-release only shows the original were so good (profitable) that they were compelled to make more. And as @Puros Y Vino points out, pretty easy to reband.

Assuming all tobacco is liquid within Cohiba so that your only material constraint is wrapper size, they may as well make a small amount of the most profitable cigars possible.
