Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 saturday will be an early rise as i have to taste all of the fraser gallop palladian wines, both Cab and Chardonnay, which will be very special. then the soccer, then the first games of the broncs, NRLW, and then the wallabies v ireland (with a cigar to be determined and my new bottle of soltera rum), then if i can find it, the broncs v cronulla. i suspect the only win for the day might be the broncs women. if i can, i'll squeeze a fish off the beach in as well. sunday will be cleaning, packing, heading back home to Queensland, unpacking, getting depressed by the need to mow. 14 1
Popular Post zacca Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 Early start to the holiday weekend in the city of our nation’s founding. I took the afternoon off because I had some yard work to get done, even with temperatures over 100°F and heat index 115°F+. Somehow the PSP2 helped me get through it. Then it was off to an early fireworks (and general explosives) display to formally kick off the festivities. Happy 250th to my fellow American BOTLs! 16

Popular Post Boxer31 Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 Love doing yard work near 100 degree weather and humidity to go along. Brings back fond memories of golf course maintenance for 3 summers back in the day. Well at least all done before 10am. I'm planning to cook a whole snapper on grill tomorrow, along with shrimp and clams. Will also do a rack or two of ribs. 12
Popular Post riderpride Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 Happy early 4th all! Annual Stampede Rodeo kicks-off with the Stampede Sevens fun rugby tourney. Our girls are warming up, but here's a match featuring a well costumed team - unfortunately easy to tackle, but still fun. All participants (of age) are bussed to a local country bar after today's matches to get their Stampede on. Cheers! 13
Popular Post Christophe Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 In order to stick with colonial or American theme, I have successfully replanted my Virginia tobacco from this planter box to soil. Even though they were way bigger than normal transplanting size, they seem to be doing ok. I've got a few plants of Kentucky burley in the green box on the far right of that picture as well. The black planter box in the middle has a handful of Habano-seed plants (not visible). I'm thinking the density of those is small enough that i'll grow them to maturity in the boxes. * I know this is traditionally cigarette tobacco, but it's a project with my 6-year olg daughter who wants to know how cigars are made. And these seem to grow here. 16
Popular Post havanaclub Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 I will definitely grab a Tatuaje T110 as I always do to celebrate July 4th with my southern brothers. I’ll probably get some steaks to put on the smoker and enjoy some World Cup soccer and a baseball game. Now this… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 14 1
Popular Post JPark3 Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 Went to the gym earlier, right now I'm refilling the doggy pool and then washing the truck. Tomorrow, some of my neighbors are having a fireworks show which is always a good time. 15
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 Sanding this garage floor... Smoking this little bugger with a cup of Sumatra medium roast... Going to build up my mountain bike 1x9 speed this weekend now that I have all the components. Salmon fishing on Monterey Bay Sunday morning. Cigars. Food. Traffic and drunk people avoidance tactics will be in full deployment. 17
Popular Post El Presidente Posted July 3 Author Popular Post Posted July 3 Post a few photos of the Salmon fishing Ford! I have been trying to get out on the boat for weeks but the wind has been up. I will live vicariously. 7
Popular Post Çnote Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 At work all weekend 😩 I will carve out time for something 🤔 Watching post game traffic... 12 1
Popular Post treberty Posted July 3 Popular Post Posted July 3 In Stowe VT enjoying a Tatuaje Havana VI Noble and a Skadoosh from Alchemist with my new friend. I will be attending the parade tomorrow, wearing my 🇨🇦 jersey as we are playing right after. 13
Popular Post El Hoze Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 I made vaca frita for dinner tonight, man did that hit the spot. Swimming out to a shipwreck off the beach tomorrow morning with my 7 year old son, trying to get him used to open water/ocean swimming...it’s a tradition in our town, lots of people in the water, so a good time to do it. The water here in South Florida right now is crystal clear. Fifty feet of perfect visibility. Plenty of burgers, hot dogs, and fireworks after Hey Rob if you need a fish pic I just snagged this kingfish (king mackerel) off the beach while fishing for tarpon. Was fishing 40 lb. fluorocarbon leader but was lucky to hook it right in the nose so didn’t get bit off. The first run on a king fish in shallow water is just amazing. Cheers everyone, enjoy the weekend. 18 3

I won’t be bringing a bottle of champagne out there like many of the others but I am very good at catching up! The water off the beach here has been great. Guys who have lived here a lot longer than I have say it is as clear as it’s been in a long time. Maybe too clear for tarpon fishing but cool to see. 3

My wife’s favorite food in the world, fresh snapper crudo…few hours in the fridge, olive oil, coarse salt, lemon, maybe some shaved fresno chilis. Would balance out the hot dogs. 4

Popular Post ryre Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 Petit 109 to get things going today. Great smoke. 16
Popular Post MAT Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 Today we visited Zlín, the city where I was born. Specifically, skyscraper no. 21, the headquarters of the Baťa company. Amazing views of Zlín, considering that Mr. Baťa was inspired by the USA, it is a piece of America in the heart of Europe. I also took a picture of J.A. Baťa's office in the elevator of the skyscraper. 15 1
Popular Post TheCigarSoldier Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 Started the 4th the best way possible with a run and brought everyone in at the end to remind them that for 250 years we have stood tall. They're about three weeks into the journey and I figured I'd lift them up a bit and remind them that people count on us to hold the line and answer the call when the moment comes. Finished the pep talk letting them know it's a hell of a day to be in the Army because people get to enjoy this weekend thanks to young men and women like these volunteer to serve, then we ran another mile back to the footprint. Made it back in time to cook breakfast for the family. Tonight, going to head to a friend's house with the family so the kids can all swim and play. We will grill burgers and my plan is to introduce him to cigars with a Trinity Robusto. He said he's never had a cigar but would love to try. Told him he's in good hands. Should be a fun day! 9 5
Popular Post Christophe Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 Happy 250th 4th of July to American cigar-smokers. Here's to you guys (this is the only American stuff I had in house). American rye speaks for itself of course. (By the way, why is it only American whiskey/bourbon-makers thought to make a rye-based spirit?) As for the cigar, Henry Clay is a defunct Cuban marca, named after American politician Henry Clay. Today, it's made in the Dominican Republic. Henry Clay is apparently most known as an excellent diplomat. However, prior to this fact, he was part of a group called "war hawks" who strongly pushed for the War of 1812, and as I understand it became a staunch anti-interventionist later (e.g. to the Mexican-American War, in which his own son was killed). Some have gone as far as to say the Civil War might not have happened if he had still been alive at the time (maybe doubtful, but the fact that's what his contemporaries say, should mean at least something about his reputation as a diplomat, I suppose). So a bit of a conflicted figure I guess. Anyway, the cigar remembers him, perhaps somewhat unfairly, as just "War Hawk". Overall, I found the history more interesting than the cigar, a fairly standard Dominican affair. The rye however, is excellent. 10 1
