Citizens have been officially called upon to prepare for a foreign invasion. The Cuban government has begun distributing weapons to civilians and called on the population to prepare for a possible foreign invasion. These actions are taking place against the backdrop of reports regarding the deployment of U.S. military power near the island. This was reported by the Venezuelan newspaper Versión Final, according to UNN. The threat of military intervention has once again shaken the streets of Cuba. Amid the deployment of United States military power near the island, the Havana government has begun distributing weapons to ordinary citizens, officially calling on them to prepare for an imminent foreign invasion As noted, tensions escalated following the U.S. Secretary of State's speech on Capitol Hill. During his address, he did not provide a clear answer regarding the U.S. administration's possible further actions or the scale of potential military or other measures in the region. Also, according to the publication, correspondent Patrick Oppmann reported that the atmosphere of uncertainty is already affecting life in the Cuban capital. He said that government institutions have already begun discussing operational issues under a possible wartime scenario. In the government building where our main offices are located, one of the administrators approached us and asked if we would need the office during an invasion As a reminder Cuba denies purchasing 300 drones for attacks on U.S. facilities. Havana calls these accusations a pretext for sanctions and possible military aggression.
yuppie Posted June 7 Posted June 7 This is very hard to believe. Wouldn't this increase the chances of a revolt? 2 1

If it comes to military action (I still think unlikely), then airstrikes aren't going to do it. Someone is going to have to lace on a boot and touch Cuban soil. 2

JohnnyO Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I asked AI how many Migs Cuba had. The answer was between 35-40. Then I asked how many were functional. The answer was 3-20 and that sources have stated that it might be -2. The 29's are from the late 80's and in their best day could do Mach2+. They are notoroiously "thirsty", cruising in optimal conditions the fuel will last 45-50 minutes. Full afterburners its out of fuel in 10-15 minutes. I asked AI what country were still using them and it said most had retired these in the early 2000's. AK ammo worldwide is available but has gone up in price due to the war in Russia-Ukraine and the ban of imported Russian ammo into the US. Maybe they got a couple of boxes lying around from the 80's, I doubt anyone is going to be willing to ship them newer stock. So you are looking at about a 30 minute fight. 2 1
ha_banos Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Asked who he blamed for the situation, the doctor in Vedado simply held out his hand, and said: “Thanks for listening to me.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jun/08/cuba-power-outages-electricity
Duxnutz Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Something has spooked them but this whole Cuba thing has been a slow walk compared to Venezuela. Cuban leadership is probably happy to parachute out some place else. The drawing of ever shorter straws to find a US ‘compliant’ man/woman might be taking longer than originally thought. They might start interviewing blind poodles soon. Apologies to the poodles. 1

Hopefully that's what happens and the Cuban people can be given their own destiny back without further pain and privation.
BrightonCorgi Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Once there's something positive to come out of Iran, the focus will be much heavier on Cuba. The US has several playbooks on how they can deal with Cuba depending on the starting point. They've been working on this for decades. 1
