Popular Post El Presidente Posted May 15 Popular Post Posted May 15 What's up for the weekend folks? Quiet one this weekend as the next two are going to be absurdly busy. Dinner party today. PJ is bringing over some Pork Tomahawks that apparently would make Fred Flinstone blush. PJ loves a cigar with the MOFOH Sovereign Sun being his current favourite. Purportedly, we and the girls (Dee/Madam M) are planning the 2027 France/Portugal/Spain trip. I have been to this rodeo before. PJ and I will be bored after 30 minutes, we will both be reprimanded by 35th minute, girls will go inside to continue the project 40th minute, PJ and I open second bottle and light up 41st minute. Looking forward to it Sunday is a work day this week as I have guests flying in from all over the place next week and I will no doubt lose a couple of days work. I will need to frontload Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. No bigee, I have some BR Lancero blends to revisit as well as the 2 Sisters, Sisters of the of Night (Sorella Della Notte) blends. ...Yes...that is work people What's up for the weekend? 10

Popular Post ReelMan Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 Nothing quite so grand as the above, as I just returned home with my wife after a beautiful weekend at Anacortes/Lopez island in the grand Pacific Northwest (just north of us) with our son and his girlfriend. With nothing particular plannedLancer by me, my wife will no doubt have a list of honey-do's for me. Will try to work in my first ROTT Puro Lancero. I know I shouldn't but I have no willpower over the look of this cigar. Thank you Prez and Hamlet! 5
Popular Post Marco_011t556 Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 Raining heavily in Hong Kong, almost 80% humidity. Just staying indoors. 11
Popular Post El Niño Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 Tiling up a portion of my back yard to plant some tobacco starts and other gardening chores. Meeting up with the boys for cigars and drinks later tonight. Much needed after the work week and this yard work. I started rolling my own cigars, so I'm trying to nail down a blend for a petit corona (I'm coming for ya Hamlet!! 😂). I tried two blends this morning, and neither one quite did it for me. I'll try another tweak tonight, and then probably light a BR Petit 109. Nothing has given me more respect for excellent blenders like trying it for myself. Cheers y'all, enjoy your weekend! 7 1
Popular Post Fireball Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 We are having a big Eurovision party. Never really watched it until Covid, but now we throw a party for it. We get a beverage or food from as many of the participating countries as we can. 5
Popular Post Greenhorn2 Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 Sitting on the beach drinking bourbon and smoking cigars. Might even eat a few Doritos. 9

Popular Post LLC Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 Long weekend so I was able to get the deck furniture out and cleaned up the outdoor kitchen. Was able to enjoy it last night with a great cigar. Still stuff to do around the house. 6

Popular Post Ford2112 Posted May 16 Popular Post Posted May 16 I am going to clean up this bike frame and start on the build. Smoke a Fab5 Lonsdale, ride the other bike, dinner with a friend tonight. Tomorrow organize the shed and get a dump run together for next week. 9
Popular Post Goldeneye Posted May 17 Popular Post Posted May 17 Up to the hunting camp on Saturday for some spring clean up. My wife is off Sunday with our future daughter in-law dress shopping on Sunday so have the day to myself...plan on a good long dog walk and cigar. Monday is a holiday in Canada and plan on planting the rest of the garden. A good weekend. 8
Popular Post westg Posted May 17 Popular Post Posted May 17 Out with the girls last night for dinner. Lucky Chans Perth, Western Australia. I have walked past this place many times and actually thought it was some kind of laundry establishment/ bar. It;s actually a bar restaurant that had me fooled. The first pic is the entry. It was an amazing venue 3 levels and a great vibe. Food and service like any place in Perth whether you pay a few dollars or a lot .D grade. The girls likes it so that is OK. We will continue to venture and explore new places. The weekend markets are a thrill. Smashing the next three days at work then off to Brisbane with my great mate Clive (Miner) to visit Rob, Diana and the Brisbane boys. 7 1

They can be pricey, but generally interesting enough to justify 1 or 2 bevvies. Why the 'D' grade? Cheers! 1

The girls a cocktail each came to $51. The food just under 200 notes for the three of us. My meal represented something you would buy from a bain-marie in a supermarket. I never try to expect to much when going out as I am the most fussiest p***k in the world. Service in Perth Western Australia is shocking - that is what is D grade. I can guarantee you they (staff) are paid up to 3 times more that would you would be paid in the U.S. We really do have an in your face/I don't care standard. I never say anything...if we had a tipping system like the U.S I would be all in if the service was great. As it has been evety time I visit any many other countries compared to Australia. 1

Popular Post griller Posted May 17 Popular Post Posted May 17 Son is back in town from college for the summer (rising Senior; doing an internship at my wife's company). Really having fun spending time with him and showing him the ropes on the grill. The plan is to get him experience grilling hamburgers, chicken, and steak, smoking ribs, pork shoulder, and salmon. Finally, he'll get some guidance using the Blackstone griddle for bacon, smashburgers, quesadillas (steak, chicken, or taco meat), various egg dishes (omelets, scrambles, etc), and the old faithful fried rice & easy Hibachi dishes. Might even teach him the choo choo train & beating heart gags LOL. Yesterday was ribs. Did 2 baby back slabs "Memphis Style" where you don't marinade but use dry rub only. We also did a light drizzle of honey on the top side of each slab to add a little sweetness & caramelization to the bark. There is no cooking step that requires you to wrap them in foil or butcher paper, either. Smoke at 250 degrees for about 3.5 hours, and after the 1st 90 minutes you baste them hourly with an apple juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and 2 tbls paprika-based dry rub marinade. Prep time is literally 5 minutes of removing the silverskin at the bottom of the slabs, generously applying dry run on each side, and that's it! There is a great YouTube video by Malcomb Reed (he lives about 20 minutes from me and should be Knighted or at least deemed a National Treasure for his amazing skills) who introduced me to this Memphis Style Ribs recipe and it absolutely nails how we cook ribs in my area. The boy has been a good student so far & wants to learn how to become competent on any outdoor cooking apparatus. He was rewarded with some absolutely fantastic ribs! Perfectly cooked, meat pull off the bone was just right, and the sweet & smoky flavor from the dry rub really complimented the meat without dominating the experience. Now he just needs some practice and he'll be ready to cook for his buddies. Cigar wise, lit up a really nice Yerandy Gomez Siglo 6 farm roll. Construction was flawless and there were several flavor transitions that added to the smoke. Farm rolls may/may not be for you, but I really enjoy them now that Habanos is priced out of my reach for the most part. Today I've got a BR Petit 109 & a N9 Lonsdale on deck. 8
WestCoastSmokin Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Celebrating our anniversary this weekend. Went out to Cowboy Star for dinner. She got a filet Mignon, I got a dry aged ribeye. Dinner was fine, but the banana pudding and the mochi ice cream was the real star of the evening! 4
Çnote Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I discovered my mother had never had sushi. Also watching kangaroo attack videos. Still not packed. 3

Weekend plans honestly sound better and better the older I get. Quiet time, good food, maybe a cigar and some peace feels perfect now. I recently had to read through the edream cancellation policy after travel plans changed unexpectedly and it reminded me how stressful trips can become sometimes. Relaxing weekends at home suddenly sound much more attractive. Hope everyone gets some time to unwind. Enjoy the weekend folks 1
