Who needs an ST Dupont that costs the same a a second hand car?!

Also, a lot less weeping and gnashing of teeth if you lose one of those down the back of the sofa!

...Most have been given to me over the years as gifts :lol3:

Generally on the deck we are using $5 big bellied torches. 6 of them are on there for the lads to use.

Dupont's are a fool's errand. The Chinese copies are better. Sad, but true. I went to car event this weekend that had a cigar roller from a big tobacco store in CT. They said the same thing.

I've given up on the Dupont. Been thinking of selling it.  Wooden matches are what I use as a primary now.

KISS

These lighters work and hold up very well. Back to basics? You bet. For ten bucks a vertigo lighter is like a sore jonson. You can't beat it.

I purchased a three pack of these like 8 years ago. Two are still running. The 3third one got lost. My favorite lighter. I purchased a Xigar lighter and it stopped working within a year. I am sticking with these.

I don't really know much about recent production ST Dupont lighters, but I own a gorgeous piece, one from somewhere between the late 90s-early 2000s and it's always been very reliable.

Looks like they never fully recovered after sending some of their production to China, anyway I wouldn't purchase one at today's prices.

Mine is from that same era. I've serviced it at least 3-4 times over the decades. Has the dual flame.

Bic works better. May lack elegance. Or without pretense in polite speak.

Mine's a soft flame, Gatsby line. I've had one of the first Maxijets too but it stopped working a long time ago after I had it serviced at least twice, I just gave up on this one...

I have an era equivalent of Ligne 2 lighter with silver finish - Luxury Lighter | S.T. Dupont – S.T. DUPONT Europe
