Eh, I don't have enough of a discerning palate for a 100 point scale. But I do know what I especially liked this year. Four cigars stood out for complexity and richness of flavors, and exceptionally enjoyable tastes.

- Cohiba Espendidos, circa 2023 - my first ever of this Cohiba vitola and, to date, probably my favorite Cohiba cigar. Vanilla bean, honey, floral, and oak in my tasting notes.

- Trinidad LaTrova, 2021 - I'm already a big fan of the characteristic Trini profile, and this one offered all of the creamy, savory, nutty, and herbal flavors and more.

- Punch 898, 2020 - such an improvement over younger smokes from this box.  Even more delicious than the 2022 Punch Punch I had this year, which is saying a lot.

- Arturo Fuente OpusX Perfecxion X - three years in the humidor didn't diminish at all the intensity and complexity of the cedary, savory, earthy flavors. I realize OpusX doesn't measure up for some smokers here, but this one and others from the original OpusX line with at least a little age on them are in my wheelhouse.

The most memorable cigar of 2025 for me was a Partagas E2 which is from a 2023 box. The AC in the room that keeps my desktop humidor broke down and I was worried that the Cigars would not be in a good condition to smoke, especially that it has been few weeks since I was last there given travels.

Once I lit the Cigar, I was surprised by the depth of flavor and how smooth it was I have never smoked a cigar so slowly just so that I can enjoy the cigar to the maximum. I have tried a few cigars from the same human and they were surprisingly smoking better than usual, but that E2 was the most memorable E2 I have ever smoked, and it would easily count as the best Cigar for me this year.

For 2025: 

Davidoff Year of the Ox (I hate to say it but it topped every Cuban I had this year); 

Cohiba Esplendido (no idea what year but it had some age on it thanks to @JohnS); and 

Vegas Robaino Unicos (from the 2016 jar, absolutely phenomenal).

Three off of the top of my head would be a Sig5, Sir Winston and a Mag 46. The 46 is my cigar of the year, maybe the best one I've had in years. That cigar is the closest that I've gotten to a 100 pointer. I gave it a 98-99 when I smoked it, but the more I think about it, 99.

How does the Imperiales compare to the Clemenceau? I’ve had a May 21 Clemenceau that was Devine.

3 cigars I particularly enjoyed:

My Father the Judge Grand Robusto, there's a reason it was cigar of the year, complex flavor, huge ring gauge, nice wrapper and a wonderful summer cigar.  I will caveat this with the fact I purchased a box and the draw has been slightly inconsistent.

Cohiba Piramides Extra 2024

Opus X Society Manny Iriarte. Maybe I just loved this because it felt like I should love a new world cigar that cost $120 but it was a phenomenal smoke enjoyed at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November. A bit longer than most of my preferred smokes but complex full bodied flavors without being overwhelming. Not sure I'd buy a box, but a super cigar.

Rare to say the least with Habanos cigarmageddon post-Covid pricing. Hindsight and all that, but If I'd known, I would have set up a cigar survival bunker walk in humidor in 2020 and remortgaged the house to buy a lifetime supply. 

- H Upmann Connoisseur B. Amazing honey reminiscent of an aged Siglo VI. A single sadly. If they renamed the ridiculous Connoisseur A, B, No.1, No.2 line I could keep track.

- Vegas Robaina, new Non-Cuban sample of a roughly Churchill sized cigar from Urs Portmann Kreuzlingen, possibly exclusive. (It's an NC but the Robaina family are winning much like Hamlet and Rob with their MOHFOHs / Nudies so...)

My smoking volume has been down this year, as I try and navigate my inevitable exodus from Habanos and their idiocy, as many of us are. However, seven cigars come to mind as above 94 points for me this year. I believe all but two were smoked on the golf course - it’s just what I do! In no specific order…
 

1st is a RASS from a 2017 cab which was awesome, still lots of legs for the future:

 

Second is a Partagas P2 from 2015, one of the best cigars I’ve had ever, smoking amazingly right now. High 90s in spite of a rough burn at the start:

3rd would be this amazing unicorn, a 2002 Upmann Tang Coronas, which I accidentally smoked on the golf course. I thought it was an old Mag46 where the secondary band fell off or was never there—needless to say it was great. Pushing 98, just so so rich, grail cigars indeed:

4th would be 2012 Partagas 898, just a purely sublime experience all around, what a cigar!

 
 

A roughed up 2016 CORO with a busted head and foot, but it was really great:

This 2015 Exquistos was a pure shocker. Box left in back of humidor for 10 plus years and man oh man was it a superb cigar. An hour of pure, powerful Cohiba bliss. Amazing—should have bought more: 

And finally, though I am missing a smoking pic, the JO PSE2GR have been my personal “find of the year.” I have said it before, I don’t care if these are rolled on Virgin Thighs in Havana, Virginia Thighs in Richmond, at El Laguito or El Dorado Mexican in Ohio, they are just purely GREAT cigars. The 3-4 I’ve smoked have been above a 94 each and every time. The kind of cigar you think about when you’re smoking a double banded dollar gobbler and it’s letting you down. I’ll regret not buying 200 in a few years, I am sure.

Last night. Thinking about last night. Oh yes, a Ramon Allones Estupendos. Salted caramel and a little cream and honey. Just sensational, in fact I kept looking at it thinking if someone has done something to this. A beautiful specimen as well. I would actually like to give it a 100 points. Perhaps a little to over refreshed with negronis at the time. 98 points TEB OCT 07.
