This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor)   4-6 (Average to good)   7-10  (very good to excellent)  Use the Poll.

Cuba's Double Corona stable is legendary. Lusitania, Punch DC, Hoyo DC. Throw in the lost Saint Luis Rey DC, Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro.

How/where does the Ramon Allones Gigantes fit into this legendary group?

I find this RG to be good when young and the box I have is getting better with age (of course), I'm really eager to see what they become in a couple of years but I'm very confident.

I love these but to be fair I love all DCs in general, in my experience something wonderful happens around the 2h mark when you smoke a great cigar 👍

For you, what are the indicators that a cigar will age well?

The Kramer cigar! These just work for me. Mostly sweet with just a touch of leather and prune. I’ve burned through every box I’ve had before the 5 year mark. I’ve got one box remaining that will get a touch more time on it. I put DC, Churchill, and 109 in the same category and I’d rate them right in the middle. They were always more approachable young than RASS to me.

I've never aged a box for more than 6 years so there are lots of more experienced FOH compadres that could answer better than me but I'd say it's about presence and character, more than strength, at least in my book .

If it feels empty when young it probably won't benefit from ageing, if it's flavorsome and welcoming it can be messy young but there's hope for the future.

That being said, nobody can tell the future and it also depends a lot on personal preferences so only experience and time can tell 👐
