El Presidente Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world. To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well! Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor) 4-6 (Average to good) 7-10 (very good to excellent) Use the Poll. You are more than free to comment away Cuba's Double Corona stable is legendary. Lusitania, Punch DC, Hoyo DC. Throw in the lost Saint Luis Rey DC, Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro. How/where does the Ramon Allones Gigantes fit into this legendary group? Ramon Allones Gigantes. Have your say! Let us know in this thread
Popular Post MrBirdman Posted November 6, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2025 Really like these, but I’ve had horrible experiences with construction over the past 7 years. A lot of plugs or extremely tight draws with terrible smoke production. I’ve had to cut some in half, which at least is viable for a DC (which, ironically, does not then become a corona!), but at current prices I’d be displeased to say the least. 5 1
Popular Post Wookie Posted November 6, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2025 Should have given 4-6 for construction but, generally, they are well-rolled. Most of mine are pretty old. They start med-light and finish med consistently and their DNA profile is decidedly dialed-back RASS for me. My favorite DC tied with a good Lusi. 5
Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted November 7, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2025 Box I am smoking from has been a home run. 5
Popular Post cigaraholic Posted November 7, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2025 If you love smoking fruit cake and drinking great vintage port, there’s no finer regular production Cuban cigar. 6
Popular Post loose_axle Posted November 7, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2025 Favourite DC in the first two years range. I've a few left and will see what age does to them. 6
Popular Post Li Bai Posted November 7, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2025 I find this RG to be good when young and the box I have is getting better with age (of course), I'm really eager to see what they become in a couple of years but I'm very confident. I love these but to be fair I love all DCs in general, in my experience something wonderful happens around the 2h mark when you smoke a great cigar 👍 5

Chibearsv Posted November 7, 2025 Posted November 7, 2025 The Kramer cigar! These just work for me. Mostly sweet with just a touch of leather and prune. I’ve burned through every box I’ve had before the 5 year mark. I’ve got one box remaining that will get a touch more time on it. I put DC, Churchill, and 109 in the same category and I’d rate them right in the middle. They were always more approachable young than RASS to me. 4

I've never aged a box for more than 6 years so there are lots of more experienced FOH compadres that could answer better than me but I'd say it's about presence and character, more than strength, at least in my book . If it feels empty when young it probably won't benefit from ageing, if it's flavorsome and welcoming it can be messy young but there's hope for the future. That being said, nobody can tell the future and it also depends a lot on personal preferences so only experience and time can tell 👐 5
Popular Post JohnS Posted November 7, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2025 I'm fortunate to have a box from 2015. The descriptions, "a dialed-down RASS" and "smoking fruit cake" are quite apt. With age, these become more one-dimensional (for me), but honestly, that's how you'd prefer this particular blend to be. 6
