Monday Musings: Your Sports Event Bucket List...

With our Melbourne Cup 🏇 on tomorrow here in Aus, the World Series ⚾ having just finished, I was thinking about dream sporting events to attend around the world. I still have the Cup on my list (although I don't know why, as it's really just a chaotically messy piss-up I'd do well to avoid at this point, but still... it's iconic, so there's that ), a Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge is on the list as well, and a Red Sox post-season game would probably be my top 3.

Bears Super Bowl of course. 

I’ve been to Breeders Cup a few times and that’s tough to beat as a racing fan. We went one year with friends that a had a horse running and we watched their race from the winners circle where Richie Sambora was setting up to play the national anthem. Dennis Savard was part of our group too. Their horse didn’t win but that day was amazing.  My buddy needed a hug after the race 🤣

I saw Manchester United win the champions league final in Moscow in 2008, which will be hard to top. Outside of that it would be seeing England win a World Cup final.  I imagine getting tickets for a World Cup final however would be nigh on impossible unfortunately.

The Masters is probably the tops of my list; even better if it was for all four days and the Sunday had a great leaderboard with some back 9 drama. 

Other than that, I'd say a Detroit Lions SuperBowl would be another bucket list event.

I managed to see The Yankees and The Red Sox play on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the Bronx.The old house that Babe built which was replaced in 2009. Unforgettable. Tried to get my 81 year old Father to visit Lambeau Field this year to watch the Packers and The Eagles but he declined. I would love to visit The Masters or a US Open at Pebble Beach.

I would love to visit the Masters In Augusta, Georgia or the US Open at Pebble Beach also.

It goes without saying that watching the New York Mets win the World Series, and perhaps clinching it at Citi Field remains a 'pipe dream'. I would love to see it while Juan Soto and Fracncisco Lindor are part of the team.

I'm not necessarily a fan of the team, but watching the Buffalo Bills win the SuperBowl would be awesome too, especially considering their run in the early 90s.

Finally, I would love to 'do the double' and watch the French Open Final, followed by the Wimbledon Final one June/July.

Lucky for me I guess that the US will never make a Rugby World Cup final. I got to see a Women's 6 nations game at Twickenham this year and that was amazing.

I had an up close and personal viewing in 2006 when we played him at Davidson. He hit 9 threes. I knew then he wasn't normal...

My current favorite live sporting event is the US Open tennis. It's unlike anything I've experienced before. I would add Wimbledon to the mix. Would love to attend the All England Tennis Club, dress up and enjoy the whole experience.

Twickenham is fantastic, one of the great rugby stadiums, and the largest purpose built rugby stadium in the world. World class atmosphere when it’s roaring as well. Better still, they still let you drink in the stands at rugby games.

He has a half and 3/4 court highlight reel! Chase Center is state of the art.

World Cup in Europe and Brazil* (*didn't attend the  Cup but was traveling in Europe and Brazil on separate occasions while the World Cup was happening, which was likely crazier than going to the actual event)

Not much.

A soccer game in Italy. (doesn't really matter which game).  We have some FIFA26 games in Toronto next year.  That might be fun too.

An F1 race in Europe or the one in Montreal.
