El Presidente Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Slightly ghoulish.....your end of days cigar? 🙏 The thought was triggered after reading the story below on the last legal execution by hanging in Tucson, 1908. I was intrigued that the convicted Hawkins got to smoke a cigar before the hanging. Let's lighten the mood slightly. You aren't about to be executed. Just assume that tomorrow an asteroid will take us all out. Feel bettter? You have done all you can do. (that would be nothing). You walk to your humidor. What are you pulling to smoke this one last time? E.W. Hawkins was hanged on August 14, 1908 for the murder of Albert Leonhardt on December 23, 1907. The photograph is replete with all of the theatricality of these ghoulish spectacles, its precedent hearkening all the way back to Tyburn‘s Tree in the heyday of public execution as popular entertainment in England. The representatives of law and order, the executioner and the priest, vie for attention and celebrate Hawkins‘ alleged conversion at the noose. Hawkins, described on scene as being “cool as a cucumber“ approaches his fate like Jack Sheppard, smokes his last cigar and addresses the crowd in a fresh suit. The photograph. published by Smith Sporting Goods Co., functions almost like baseball cards with the team members comprising a rogues gallery of celebrity criminals. Something didn‘t go according to plan on August 14, however. Hawkins‘ neck didn‘t break in the hanging, so the assembled spectators witnessed a horrific death struggle. This would be the last public execution by hanging in the city of Tucson. 1
zacca Posted October 28 Posted October 28 The last 2 CoRos I have from 2003. Taped together if we’re abiding by the “1 cigar” rule. 2
Popular Post MrBirdman Posted October 28 Popular Post Posted October 28 Probably one of my El Laguito Siglo III - one of my favorites and a cigar I associate with a lot of good things (bad things too) in my private life, including my first FOH zoom where I met Rob and several others here whom I’d come to know. Closest to a stroll down memory lane I can get with a cigar. One bonus wouldn’t be just what I smoke but where, as in anywhere the hell I want! 5
BrightonCorgi Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Cuaba Diadema or Portmann Robusto. Have one left of each. Been waiting for a good reason to smoke either one. 4
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted October 28 Popular Post Posted October 28 Well if they're hanging me I guess I'll break out the Meglaphobia because I'm sure I could get 16-20 hours smoking out of it. But if I'm smoking for me it's going to be the La Escepcion 2011 Italia Regional or the La Aurora 100 Anos 2004. 2 10
Popular Post JDoughty Posted October 28 Popular Post Posted October 28 Forget any cigars, I'm spending all the time I can with my loved ones. If for whatever reason this was not an option and we must play this game by the rules, my pre embargo stuff is going up in flames. I have one 1960 Cuban Davidoff left and I'm burning it. 7

If I absolutely HAVE TO pick, and presuming the cigar would taste like the best version of itself, one of my 2019 Sir Winstons or the one Cohiba Talisman 2017 LE I have. 5
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted October 28 Popular Post Posted October 28 Whatever Churchill, DC, or 109 that looks good to me that day. Who am I kidding, Esplendido! 7
Popular Post ViscountDick Posted October 28 Popular Post Posted October 28 As many Mag 46 and Connies as I can 7
ha_banos Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Ooh. Start with a Magnum 48. It's only a tiddler, so would have time to grab a big stick. Haven't had an Esplendido in ages... 4
Popular Post benfica_77 Posted October 29 Popular Post Posted October 29 Punch DC from 87 followed by a Siglo VI. Would go all out. Then a steak and a marathon session with the Mrs. 2 6
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted October 29 Popular Post Posted October 29 I am a hedonistic bastard. 5 Punch DCs in a row! 5
Popular Post Li Bai Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM Well I was just given a Sir Winston '97 but I could also go with a Diplo Bushido.🤔 6
Popular Post Gubbins Posted Wednesday at 06:54 PM Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 06:54 PM I have a Monte 1 from my year and month of birth. I think that would be quite fitting. Shared the same time on this mortal coil. A nice bit of company as we meet our demise. After all what better acquaintance for a moment of this magnitude than a handful of dried leaves? 6

The problem now is managing to hang onto them until that time! I have a box of Coloniales, which turns out has the same date as my nephews birth, so I have a slight guilt churning my way through those. 1
SUP8333 Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM The last Cuban Davidoff No.1 I have left. 2
Popular Post El Hoze Posted Thursday at 09:20 PM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 09:20 PM Not necessarily the exact question, but my father-in-law, who turned me onto cigars and was a larger-than-life guy, came down with cancer in around 2015 and quit drinking/smoking (he stepped up the gambling though to compensate). His favorite cigars were Cohiba Lanceros and he loved a good rum. I kept an absolute banger box of 2008 Lanceros and a bottle of English Harbour 1981 (25 year) Rum set aside just in case he ever asked me for one. He didn’t. That bottle of rum is long gone but I still have probably 12 of that box of Lanceros. I smoke them generally on special occasions. For me, probably a Siglo VI GR. 6

Perla Posted Friday at 12:54 PM Posted Friday at 12:54 PM For me LGC MdO No. 2 or LGC Tainos of ERDM Tainos or whatever I get first in my fingers and stuff it into my pockets. Climb up the hill, open a few bottles of champagne or good wine ( no water - because fish are p**ing in there) and let the sunset happen. Oh damn‘ I forgot the food 😂😂😂 1
