At 15YO, she's got a bright future ahead. I'm not a huge country fan, outside of Chris Stapleton. My wife plays country stations, but I can't play Metal ones in the house, but I digress. 😁  She hits the right formula IMO. Her voice is crisp, clear and has the "country twang" in her vocals which I'd expect and IMO should be present in the genre. If she's writing her own material and playing some guitar, kudos to her. She will only get better. This song in particular has some catchy hooks and is generally upbeat and "bouncy". And it's aimed at the right demographic (teens/young adults). It's not Country music for those like like to grumble, sip whisky and smoke cigars.🤪 So, in other words, her chances are good.

Going to toot my own horn

My granddaughter's first ever published song. She's 15 BTW.

Honest opinions please. Good bad or ugly. ALL opinions wanted.

Thanks, John

Feel free to share this. 😁

John, it's just not my thing, but sounds like country music to me. I think it's really cool that she's putting her music out there. I wish her all the best success. Proud Grandpa can toot all he wants. Very nice!

Whether one likes Country music or not, you've got to admit that it's an impressive effort from a 15 year old. Thanks for sharing, John!

Enjoyed it immensely John!

I love country and play it regularly be it stand alone or on my cruising play list mix.

Diana is a hater of Country music (boooo Dee...booooo!)...but I continue to try and show her the light...again! 😉

Yay Diana. Boo Rob. I did play the song for about three seconds. If I ever wanted to end my life...country music would make sure of it.

I work in the Nashville Country music industry. I see young artists trying their hand constantly. She's definitely got something cool going on! She seems like she really gets it. Even her artist name is cool; a lot cooler than your typical artist you see in the bars downtown. My only critique per se is that the hook could stand to be a little catchier in the back half. Just a little extra something something to keep you singing it in your head all day. But I love the production and the vibe.

It feels like she is herself – not trying to be some other artist. It's so hard to get artists to genuinely believe in themselves. It's all you can ever really do if you want to do something great. If this is what she's doing at 15, she'll be an absolute killer in the years to come. Tell her to NEVER water anything down. Believe in your art and yourself to the point you're almost delusional. There's a lot of opinions from a whole lot of executives, but deep inside, you know when something is good. People crave authenticity, not another version of what was cool about someone else.

Upbeat tempo and classic country sound. Tried and true formula. She's taking it more it more to its roots than most new country artists.

Good for her and cheers to her future.

John, that’s an amazing accomplishment; hopefully in a long string of them.  You know I'm not a country fan but I’ll sit with you when she makes the CMAs.  Save me a spot. Cheers brother!

I like the variety between her songs and think she’s really developing a sound all her own while grounding it in what I’d call modern pop country. I do think that Girls and Gasoline gets to the chorus a bit early and doesn’t have much of a verse at all. I don’t mind that, per se, but as others have pointed out the hook looses a bit of steam at the end. And the bridge seems to be nothing more than the verse without any instruments.

All in all, spectacular work as a budding artist, particularly this young. But I think there’s room to develop ideas more fully and add some more interesting elements to make it feel like a full song rather than a good chorus. That’s not a knock, mind you, and my composition teachers drilled the same into my head when I was her age. Tell her this is really well done. She’s got a bright future! Congratulations to you both.
