El Presidente Posted August 25 Posted August 25 This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world. To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well! Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor) 4-6 (Average to good) 7-10 (very good to excellent) Use the Poll. You are more than free to comment away I am a Corona Gorda whore and the H. Upmann Magnum 46 is always in my rotation, often fighting for my attention against a Punch Punch or a MOFOH Spada Gorda. I think the Mag46 has evolved over the years into a more refined offering, but thankfully it still retains those hints of elbows/headbutts in the first few years. Today: H. Upmann Magnum 46. Let's kick off the discussion 1
Popular Post Mike Mecklenburg Posted August 25 Popular Post Posted August 25 Love the Mag 46 and have nothing negative to say from my 2018 and 2020 stock other than the flavors and construction are very good. I can't speak of the current crop but I am due for restocking. 9
Popular Post Wookie Posted August 25 Popular Post Posted August 25 2013-2024 have been remarkably consistent flavor-wise and construction quality. More reliable than Connie 1, IMHO. 8
Popular Post Lucas Buck Posted August 25 Popular Post Posted August 25 Love Corona Gordas and love this cigar. Some of the best cigars I have smoked. Consistent, full flavored classics. 11
Popular Post riderpride Posted August 26 Popular Post Posted August 26 My favorite vitola and I love this blend. This one's stacked deeper than any other in my humidors. It's like the greatest friend I've ever had - dependable and we've never argued about anything. Ever. Cheers! 9 1

Popular Post cnov Posted August 26 Popular Post Posted August 26 I managed to pick up some tubos with a little age on them from FoH that were fantastic, they didn't last long. 6
joeypots Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I stocked up during covid before cigarmegeddon. Brilliant cigars in a favorite vitola. 11 hours ago, zaca said: Any particular years (or ranges) stand out to you? 2020 2

Have you had any of the 08s recently? I recently got some tubos but letting them acclimate currently so haven’t tried any yet. Took a chance since many other cigars would be well past their peak by now but I figured the 46s would still be in a really good window for a bit longer still. 1

No, unfortunately it's been a few years. I expect them to have some legs still, and I would love to hear a review of those tubos if you're game. Enjoy!

I actually just took them out of the tubes today so I’d like to give them a solid 30 days now…if I can hold out that long!

Gamehawker Posted Thursday at 05:20 PM Posted Thursday at 05:20 PM I think the discontinued Super Coronas was a much better H. Upmann Corona Gorda cigar. I absolutely loved the H. Upmann Super Coronas and I have never liked the H. Upmann 46.
Stevieboy Posted Thursday at 05:30 PM Posted Thursday at 05:30 PM I went through quite a few cabinets of 50 around 2009 to 2015. Absolutely amazing. I feel the flavour profile has changed quite a bit these days. Still, a decent cigar but not a patch on the older ones. 2
qs210 Posted Thursday at 09:47 PM Posted Thursday at 09:47 PM I tried a 24 tubo ROTT recently. It was fantastic. Definitely on my list to stock up on. 1

Tstew75 Posted Friday at 03:37 PM Posted Friday at 03:37 PM Possibly my fave cigar to age & follow outside of CoRo. #coronasgordas4lyfe 3
Fugu Posted Saturday at 07:53 AM Posted Saturday at 07:53 AM Classic Upmann, and absolutely humidor-worthy (almost a must). What I call a “serious” cigar. Used to be one of the best vitolas in the HU-lineup prior to the expansion of the Magnum range with the mostly milder, more “modern” (read more easy/early accessible), but no less attractive blends. I am careful with generalisations here, as the Mag46 production, from my experience, could be / could have been a bit hit and miss at times: But I recall some ‘06 and ‘09 (50-cabs) to stand out for me (sitting on the shelves back then, not sure why). Also very good are the ‘12/‘13/‘14 (UPE through LUB) mother factory production, while the last ‘05s I smoked appeared to have lost some of their oomph. The 2010 jar is said to be very good, yet I can’t add anything here, as I haven’t touched mine so far 😌. Likely, we are dealing here with 2009 reg-prod again. Solid value, mostly. 2
