Do you still have plastic bubble at the feet of the cigars in the box?  Believe it or not that's like food for mold.

I had a coolidor for a few years and it had a lot of issues with humidity being worse in certain parts of the box vs where I attached the meter.  Be sure to rotate boxes around because the meter might read 63 on the top front shelf but the bottom back of the coolidor could be 76.

I've had the same thing happen to a couple of boxes in my humidor which stays around 62-64%RH and 65-66°F. I'm now a firm believer in checking and rotating the boxes around in the humidor at least 2 to 3 times a year. Those should be fine after a good cleaning.

Yup. That was the original bubble wrap. I have tended to leave packaging on boxes as found - less chance of damaging anything. Fascinating that the plastic is a source of food for mold.

FWIW - this box was stored roughly in the middle of the Coolidor, underneath the singles tray so potentially an airflow issue but also next to a bag of heartfelt beads. Boxes below this one have been checked an no mold. Starting to think it was the veneer separator.

Personally I would not leave packing bubble wrap in the boxes. That is merely to protect the sticks from damage during the long trek. It has served it's purpose.

True. There was a time early in my accumulation of my stash when I thought that I might end up trading boxes so I left everything as it was delivered. Eight years in I realize that I am a much better collector than trader - much less of a time commitment. Might start to remove the bubble wrap.
