Over 20 years I have experienced nicotine overload a hand full of times. It is strange, I have had times when I have smoked 8 + cigars in a day and was fine. And then I have had a day when I smoked 2 cigars and started braking out in a cold sweat, clammy, nauseous. Most of us know the trick of eating a packet of sugar, but for me I am a type 1 diabetic so that's not an option. So for me I have to just sit and ride it out!

Do you have any tricks when you experience nicotine overload?

It's hit me twice. Both were Hoyo Epi De Luxe, both were packed tight and an absolute chore to draw on.

It has happened to me several times on NCs to the point where I pretty much avoid anything listed as "full bodied" as a part of a review or recommendation. The 1st time it happened to me was back in 1997 when I lit up a Bolivar Immensas (Lonsdale size) that was probably 6 months old. Had me spinning LOL.

First time was a Monte2 around 1998. Mostly NC’s in recent years. Padron and Tatuaje if I recall. Almost always outside in the heat. No worse feeling, imho.

The way I smoke it happens here and there.

Maybe twice with CCs, but definitely a few NCs. Oliva V Churchill did once as did a few offerings from Litto Gomez from both the Coronado and Double Ligero lines.

I always have a can of pop nearby to offset the effects, but it's something I don't seem to notice until it's too late.

Reminds me of the Dean Martin quote, "You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on".

Cheers!

Didn't know about the sugar trick, but glad I do. I prefer milder smokes, but I also tend to pair my cigars with an ice cold Coca-Cola (or two). I guess I'm doing the "sugar trick" at all times, lol.

Worst time of my life was first time throwing in some dip first year of high school baseball. Euphoric high led to puking out the bus window. Brutal gut punch.

It has happened, to varying degrees, 10-20 times with cigars. never that bad though. Mostly just know I've over done it.

With minor effect like dizziness standing up, several times. With major effect like puking or feeling crappy for more than a minute, never.

Oh, buddy...You never forget your first. Copenhagen straight, the lacrosse guys didn't even give me the courtesy of wintergreen. Same exact situation: puking out a window at the back of the bus, sweating from every pore on my body.

The good ol' days.

Lol - similar but it was a wad of chew while diving into 2nd, face full of dirt. Thought I might puke on 2nd base.

Never with a Cuban cigar, but the natural Padron Family Reserve 95th anniversary has kicked my arse on more than one occasion!

The first time was priming tobacco in the field. The tobacco was fairly wet that morning, soaking me to the bone. As soon as the dew dried up the nicotine came to the leaf surface and right into those wet skin pores. It took two or three good pukes and a ten minute wallow in the dirt to stop the world from spinning like a top. That is one sickness I do not miss.

Happens to me infrequently. Making sure I'm fed and taking it slow helps avoid it, while chugging a Coke or eating fruit helps alleviate it. I like cigars that deliver good flavors without being too heavy on the nic side. I tend to wonder how bad nicotine is for your health when it hits like that.
