I recall the first time I came across this phenomenon: an Australian woman, watching a sporting event, was shouting, "Auwreigh nauwreigh! Auwreigh nauwreigh!" Wasn't until days later that I realized she was saying "Oh no! Oh no!"

Let's face facts...the Australian accent is ridiculous. Ask professional actors the one accent that they wouldn't want to do and the answer would be, "the Australian one". So few actors can pull it off. I get it. Some words said with an Australian accent can be difficult to comprehend for other worldwide anglophones. For example, "water".  When an Australian says it, it sounds like "wor-tah"!
