The Wiggles 'deeply disappointed' with Bunbury Council's decision to play Hot Potato to drive off homeless

The Wiggles say they're deeply disappointed that Western Australia's largest regional city is using their music to drive homeless people away from a regularly used shelter and sleeping spot.

The children's song Hot Potato is being played on a loop at the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell in Bunbury, 200 kilometres south of Perth, in what the local council concedes is a bid to discourage people from loitering and congregating at the site.

Merriam-Webster defines hot potato as: 'a controversial question or issue that involves unpleasant or dangerous consequences for anyone dealing with it'.

I mean, it's all a little ironic isn't it?

Oh, they're deeply disappointed by that, are they?  When they are perfectly fine making money off countless thousands of parents being made to listen to this stuff multiple times, every day, without even the option to move on like the homeless do.  So much so that the mere sight of a DVD player triggers a PTSD episode.  You have some nerve, Wiggles!

*Very unfortunate - not about the choice of song or song, period....but that they're so anxious to drive out the poor and destitute from what little sanctuary they're able to find. I know the "NIMBY" crowd: "Not In MY Back Yard" bunch. But the human animal has needs all about him in place in order for where ever he's staying to not end up a rat hole: they need sanitation and running water needs just like the rest of us. That's what keeps things reasonably flowing. If the homeless have to live in their own sanitation laced filth, no running water so they can't keep cleanliness needs met - what do you expect? And yet - as always - they're always blamed for the unpleasant conditions they leave around them due to non-city services met out to them.  And I'm for one for further allowance that could be made to them: some diversion. It doesn't bother me if they can enjoy a little nip here and there to relax and ease their troubles. I used to be condemning and judgemental about those down on their luck when I was young. A poor panhandler wanting a few coins while I was out with my mother. And I would say, "He just wants that to buy some booze!" And my mom would say, "What else does a poor person have?" I've never forgotten that. We expect those who are down and out to be saints, avoiding certain pleasures and diversions while the rest of us enjoy Lord know what. I don't mind seeing them enjoying a little diversion for their troubles just like you and me enjoy our "fun moments" items out here. Chrystal Meth and Fentynal laced stuff -NO. But a little booze, a little pot - h-e-y-y-y-y...
