Popular Post Corylax18 Posted August 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2023 What a poorly researched excuse for a "story". Why would you spread this sort of thing on? One story that's almost 15 years old is the best he could do for sourcing? Haha The reality is China and the US have been the largest consumers of Cubans for over a decade now, that hasn't changed recently/post Pandemic. The truth (which this guys spends about 3 seconds glossing over) is that there aren't many Cubans anywhere right now. The production numbers plummeted during the pandemic and haven't even started to recover yet. Tabacuba and HSA dont seem to be planning on any real recovery in quantities either. The current state of the Cigar market isn't the fault of the US or Chinese cigar buyer (or any cigar buyer) its the fault of "communists" trying to play capitalist and F#$*ing it all up. 7
LigSecVol Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Is this guy for real? Nobody is "blaming" China. It's just reality. Cuban stocks all over the world were pilling dust before China opened its doors in circa 2010. Everything started disappearing since then. COVID just made things worse. Extrapolating that the US is #1 or 2 market in the world and/or that it would be the #1 WHEN the embargo end based on ONE article from 2009 based on the OPINION of ONE guy is irrelevant at laughable at best.

He goes to the production issues. Yes it's sensationalist. There's a lot of folk that don't know about the size of the US collections/market. A lot of noise is directed at China. There is a lot of history on both sides. He talks about talking to other people. He goes back to how out of date that post is!

Cuban stocks have not started disappearing with COVID but about a decade ago before when China opened its door in circa 2010. It started slow and it accelerated in 2013-2015 until COVID hit and made it worse.

They likely have more cigars than any one person needs. Same as some here. If you have several hundred boxes in your arsenal, you are just fine!
