I have responded to this one but I would love your input. ;)

"so I hope you can help me on this one. I don't want to question my vendor of many years but it is nagging at me.  I purchased a box of Partagas Serie D 4 back in 2015 and I opened it up for the first time for the holiday weekend. Something felt and looked off. On closer inspection I thought the cigars were thin so I fould my calipers and the cigars were found on 5 average to be 47-48 gauge. They were noticeably thinner and I checked a box of 2022 to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. Is this normal Rob or do I have something to worry about?"

I've found that a box of Cuban's usually contains range of ring gauges, maybe 4 or 5 RG difference from the largest to smallest. If you're expecting 50 RG, anything from 48ish to 52ish is "close enough." The cigars are QC'd (if you want to call it that) pretty soon after they're rolled, so a bit of shrinkage as they lose moisture isn't anything abnormal.

Par for the course. There are always some sticks that look plumper, and some that appear thinner. They are made by hand. By men and women. Not machine.

Shrinkage can be up to 2-3 ring gauges.  A nicely rolled fresh off the table 50 gauge cigar can easily become a 47 gauge cigar with 7 years down at say 63% RH.

I actually noticed this on a box of 5X3 cardboard CoRos I bought in 2019. A few of the cigars were NOTICEABLY slimmer. But I didn't realize it untill 2022 when I started to dig in. I assumed it was just 'Cuba being Cuba' as the vendor is definitely legit.
