El Presidente Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Post them up as you have them. I tried a 1502 Lanceros yesterday. It is a cigar that I picked up while in the US and purportedly aged 18 years.....as per the band. It is testament that time can't make a bad cigar good although I suspect this cigar is closer to 18 months old. Poor construction (rare I know), bitter flavour, pathetic all around. Complete and absolute fail. 3
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 I don't know how Enrique could be aging 1502's for 18 years since they only came out in 2014 🤣. I never fail to be amused by industry nonsense. Good shocker - Tatuaje Cohete Reserva. A 4 inch cigar that is packed with flavor and it's only 9 bucks. Honestly can't believe how balanced it was given the size. Bad shocker - The Davidoff Winston Churchill LE 2022. $34, resistant draw, average flavors. No excuse at that price point. 4 1 1
Tdm_86 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 My most terrible shocker was a Davidoff Royal Robusto. Very dirty, muddled and just not very enjoyable. Something very different from the Davidoffs I do like. Pitched it halfway through. Nothing to do with storage either, I had it with all my other cigars (that did smoke wonderfully) for over a year before I smoked it. For something that’s supposed to be top tier of a prestige brand, it shocked me at how bad it actually was. Good thing I didn’t pay for it myself 😄 3
Popular Post gustavehenne Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 I'll be contradictory here ... I smoked a Hoyo du Depute on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, both from the same box (DMU or OMU JUN 21). Tuesday - absolutely dreadful. Charred, muddle flavours, bitter and overall a terrible taste. Ditched it in the middle of the final third. Wednesday - absolutely sublime. Creamy, flavourful, lots of biscuit and an almost honeyed like taste (although my palate isn't particularly fantastic so take that with a pinch of salt). Pictured here is the great one. I didn't bother to take a picture of the bad shocker one.... 9
Popular Post Cigarsmoker81 Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 I’ve tried the qdo senadores after customary 90 day rest period and I wasn’t impressed but few months after that I’ve given it a second chance and it was outstanding…wish I bought more tbh 5
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 I have to be a bit careful on this one, as this was generously gifted to me by one of my friends here on FOH. Montecristo especial #2. I love this format! 38x155 or something like that. I call them Lancero if they even get around this size. My favorite! The roll was pretty tight, alerting me to the idea that this might be an opportunity to use the PerfecDraw tool I stubbornly refused to buy until I was facing the last 3 from a hopelessly plugged box of P 898’s I bought in Germany back in 2014. The tool is well worth the money. 1st 3rd was typical Monte, cocoa/coffee/mocha. Happy experience. Middle became an issue: 2 day old coffee, a dark chocolate that had been dropped in the dirt and an overpowering minty character. Last 3rd was overpowering mint, week-old coffee grounds and the dirt I should have paid someone to wash off the driveway. Couldn’t finish it... My gratitude for the generosity of my benefactor is in no way diminished. Very surprised, as I am a Monte fan. 🤔 5

Ford2112 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Shockers: NC - Davidoff Late Hour Churchill. It sucked ass CC- HU Royal Robusto. I think these need a lot of age. 2021 box code that I will not re-visit until 2023. 1

Expand HAHAHAHA It was actually 'Abduls Green Juice' from a Turkish place. Some kale, apple juice etc. - very healthy indeed. The five or so litres of Peroni that followed it plus a few Rum cocktails however weren't quite as healthy

BlueRidgeFly Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I had an awful Illusione Holy Lance the other night. I've had several now, most ranged from OK to pretty good, but this one just tasted like wet grass or dirt or just crud. No other flavors. People rant about CCs having consistency issues, but NCs have their fair share too. Shockingly good have been these boxes of PLPs from 2018/19 👍 1
Frinkiac7 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 It's been a long, long time since I ever tried one (back when I knew comparatively nothing about cigars), but every NC "Gurkha" cigar I ever tried was an absolute dog rocket. Which is hilarious given the purported sticker price they arbitrarily assign to many of them. 2
cigcars Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 **The fairly new (I suppose) releases of Atabay and Byron smokes since it appeared a few of our forum members here gave them good form as far as flavor and taste. I tried both (at the ridiculous price of nearly $30 each! ) Put your two empty fingers together: put them to your lips: purse your mouth and suck in the plain air. I got more flavor and taste out of doing THAT than smoking these two over-priced Gurkha-type hyping of these totally unenjoyable less than Plain Janes that left me 1

I personally blame that cigar for HSA’s new marketing plan. “Hell, these idiots will pay $30 for THIS???” 1 2
