I think it was a 35 year old Cuban from the 50's reviewed in the 80's sometime got a 98 .

 E.P. Carrillo Pledge Prequel ; Rating: 98 ;  Dominican Republic ; Dimensions: 5" by 50 ring  .

Has anyone tried this cigar ?  I have a box of 10 on the way out of curiosity only $9 US a stick. Sure it will be smokeable ? LOL.

A lot of people really love it for me it was just another maduro NC. However I really liked their 2 previous releases in that line, Encore and La Historia.

My Brother's Father In Law gifted me one for my Birthday in March. I was actually planning to smoke it this weekend. It smells like and Old Barn, in a good way. Haha.

If I do end up smoking it this weekend, I'll report back.

Good NC. Will smoke another one this weekend and will take some notes. No way it's a 98pts cigar... CA really pushed the envelope with this rating, imo.

It's all marketing,  but still...

I try to avoid self promotion whenever possible on most forums, but I feel like this is one of those times where the video would be highly entertaining for all interested:

I'd like it to play in-line but YT has forced age restriction on cigar related content. You can read the written review here: https://developingpalates.com/reviews/cigar-reviews/team-cigar-review-e-p-carrillo-pledge-prequel/ but it isn't remotely as entertaining.

The TL;DR - pleasant but average and for us not remotely in the running for Top 25, let alone CoTY.

Is this your site? Seems like there’s an issue with the domain or something. Phishing warning pops for me

I'm one of the contributors to the site. I think one of the plugin certificates has expired and it sets off a phishing alert. 🤷‍♂️

Cool. Glad to know for sure I don’t need to worry about it. I’ve enjoyed reading reviews there for a while. Unbiased reasonable takes. Nice to see in a ocean of paid media in the cigar world

They need more bands on that, I can still see tobacco.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing! I've had it for a few months, but this was the first time I had pulled it out of the Cello. They only missed about 1 inch or 20% of the 5 inch Cigar. At that point, I say just go all the way.

I have smoked a couple--that is exactly correct.    Tabernacles are much better imho.

These are actually pretty good, don't agree on the coty or a 98 rating, but very good nonetheless. If you know what you're doing, you can pretty regularly score these between 6-7$ a stick, which makes them a pretty good value. $9-10 i'd be looking elsewhere.

Smoked one earlier this week that I got maybe towards the beginning of the year.  It was a very ordinary NC that I have no interest in trying again.  If I can get it for a few dollars then maybe I'd stock them to be yardgars?  Smoking a comparable priced Fuente hemmingway signature right now and they're worlds apart.

I was back home a month ago for my mom's bday - away from cuban stash - so I bought some non-cubans from a local shop to smoke in the meantime.

I bought a Davidoff Grand Cru No. 2, Davidoff Aniversario Short Perfecto, Eiroa The First 20 Years Robusto, Padron 1964 Anniversary Corona Natural, and an EP Carrillo Pledge Prequel.  Of those my favorite was the Eiroa.

Was looking forward to the Pledge Prequel because it had been rated so highly, but I didn't love it.  Too strong for me, but some yummy flavors.  However, I found the Eiroa really good!  Refined, aromatic, and captivating.  I'd recommend to everyone here.

I read someone here say they've been enjoying Honduran tobacco (my apologies, I forget who).  I agree with that sentiment.  To me, based on that one example I've smoked, it was a lighter and ethereal smoke - really pleasant.

I really liked this one, and the La Historia. Encore was good, but didnt quite measure up.

I've got a box of these and it's a nice cigar, 98 points - absolutely not. It's very bold, chocolatey and does evolve but do I find myself longing for one? Absolutely not. In NC terms, I'd take a Padron 1926 Robusto (or any of the other 1926 vitolas) or in CC terms, a BRC, a BPC or SLR Regios well before I took this one.

TBH I actually prefer EP Carrillo's Royal Pyramides Oscuro to this stick - that I find to be a lot more flavourful...
