Sok454 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Good afternoon FOH. Wife and I are going to Cancun (first time to Mexico for me) and I believe the LCDH is like 3 minutes from our resort. I've never been to a LCDH and wondered how the prices are? I hear how great the Mojitos are etc and photos i've seen from a few years ago didn't look horrible for sticks but wondered if anyone has been there lately! Thank you for the insight!
DnQuijote Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 LCDH Cancún is one of my favorites. Expect prices to be higher than most other countries, as taxes for tobacco products in Mexico are very high. But cigars are legit, try the Mexico Edición Regional if they have them, any of them. Also, yes don’t forget the Mojito. Enjoy your stay in my country!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4

Frankly I have no idea what to expect as far as prices go since I've never gone to a store that sells Cubans. Are you meaning like 15-30 for avg sticks? and Regionals in the 30-40 USD range?

There is one in Playa del Carmen and o other one in Cozumel. Please stay away from cigars in glass covered boxes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've had a few friends get all excited and send me photos of "glass boxes" I just say bro don't buy that.... I was in FL with some executives and we were eating at this restaurant. The highest positioned guy I was with was talking about cigars. The owner of the place says here... here is a cuban for you. I asked to see it... The label was horrible and obviously fake. The boss man was like... I can't wait to smoke this... considering he kept calling me by the wrong name all week I should of told him it was fake in front of all the other execs.... but I just let him enjoy his win. 1
bassistheplace Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 It's a great lounge. Spent every afternoon there a few years ago on a scuba trip. Mojito Dave tends the bar. They are all characters and really fun to hang out with 1
Sok454 Posted October 25, 2021 Author Posted October 25, 2021 Awesome! I've heard great things about Mojito Dave! Looking forward to it. Now I wish my wife was as on board as I am!
DnQuijote Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Sorry to inform you guys, Mojito Dave passed away last November from a stroke. He was a good one!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Lfhard Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I was just down there in August of this year. Prices were a bit higher than what you can find online which made me not buy as much down there. Selection was amazing though. There is a girl that comes in and selects the cigars for you and inspects them as she’s picking them out. Kinda didn’t like that, I like picking my own, but she did a good job didn’t have any issues with the ones she picked. Wasn’t very busy when I was in there 3-4 people sitting around. Drinks were good as well. If you go to Isla Mujeres there is one authentic little shop in there. Very small place door is locked and it’s just 1 man very friendly. Same stuff at the LCDH and is apart of them. Selection though is like 1/16 of the LCDH in Cancún. Still nice to have a cigar for the time you are visiting there. Have fun. Stay safe.
unclepauly25 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Haven’t been there in years but it’s the only place to buy real Cuban cigars in Cancun, I’m actually heading there November 29th for my wedding anniversary, I’m really excited to go there, for an American cigar smoker, your like a kid in a candy store, I know prices are higher because of Mexico tobacco tax, but while on vacation it’s no big deal, bring your own too! Have a great trip! 1
La_Tigre Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Keep your head on a swivel, Fauxhiba singles for sale in there. The lighting is poor so bring your blacklight/flashlight combo or stay away from the flashy buys.
dshot Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Was there in June. Selection was great but I didn't get to hang out there due to COVID and some election there was no drinks which sucked. But I did pick up some Allones Extra EL 2011's which where outstanding and some Dantes. Cancun LCDH was nicer that Playa Del Carmen LCDH selection wise IMO. They did have some Cohbia BHK's there if that's your thing for me the Regionals is what I hunt for while on vaca in MX.

Paladin865 Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 I was there this past winter. A great place, bought a good number of cigars, with several being regionals. The deck out back overlooking the lagoon is fantastic at sunset
SCgarman Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Believe it or not but I found a cigar store in the" Kulculcan"mall that had genuine cigars. This was around 20 years ago or so. Cohiba Robustos and Monte 2's were around $18 usd per cigar. I even bought some Bolivar royal coronas and Monte Edmundos. Not cheap back then, but a bargain in this day and age.

Bought a Siglo II for the equivalent of $30usd…also, slim pickings. No regionals, not even the new release.

I had always assumed David was the Mojito Dave. I never asked him. I've never been there although he keeps inviting me. He's there quite a bit but I think his new Cabo store (not an LCDH) has been his focus the last few years. 3 hours ago, BigGuns said: Bought a Siglo II for the equivalent of $30usd…also, slim pickings. No regionals, not even the new release. From what I understand David keeps the Cancun store pretty well stocked. He considers that store his flagship store. I know it's better stocked than Tijuana and Tijuana has the Punch Duke and RA Perfectos and even some Edmundo Dantes Belis left. And he usually has some other off the wall ERs as well like the Punch Preferidos, LGC Britanicas, LGC Orgullosos and the Cuba ERs (he had both the SLR Marquez and Dip Exelencia.) But you're right on prices--you're definitely looking at $30 for a Siglo II. He tends to price certain things almost too low though. You have to look around. Like he has RGPC at $8, HURR at $20, Connie B at $25. Trini's not too bad as well--$24 for a ML, $30 for Esmeralda and $33 for Topes. La Trova is $35 I think.
gormag38 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Was just there about three weeks ago. Had some cohiba….but your paying $65 a stick for a Maduro-5, $93 for Pyramids Extra. No Behikes when I went in. Had some HU, Bolis, JL2’s and some other regular production stuff. But hardly anything under 30 a stick. Did have a couple LCDH releases and a couple regionals. Overall very limited selection than what I’ve seen others post about online. But def still worth a visit.
