Popular Post Bagman Posted October 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 3, 2021 I unfortunately did not get on these back when they were around. Not sure why. But finally got my hands on one from a friend. Cigar had a nice wrapper, but nothing spectacular. Decided to go all in with my one example and soaked the cigar with water. After the water rinse, the wrapper appeared "brighter" Plugged. Of course. My only example is plugged. But not bad, one drill hole half way down and it was good to go Cold draw was just a cedar note. Right from the start Jam, cream, light chocolate Defined it self further after about 5 minutes with a Raspberry jam/coffee Moved towards what I perceived as an apricot and cream? Just ultra smooth As time moved on, it balanced the jam with chocolate/coffee/cream. A "chewy" sensation. Chocolate/jam flavor keeps going back and forth with the jam After lots of flavor shifts, settles with a slight jam/cream/coffee flavor, dropping the chocolate. Jam is quite dominate with a mouth sensation similar to eating jam Thick/pasty Very full flavored. Had to hold up to the price/legend. There it failed, but as a cigar, it is amazing and I wish I had a few cabs of these. Total smoke time of 2 hours 21 minutes Monterey Oh, and I was very pleased with how the water rinse went. Given it's age (15 years) I thought it was a good time to try out the theory. 8
smbauerllc Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Nice review. I have a 2001 that I will l i'll likely give a quick rinse due to the problems I have had with older cigars Sounds like it will be an enjoyable smoke Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 1
Rhinoww Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Thanks for the review. After smoking the Regios recently I’ve been thinking about hunting down some of the SLR discontinued Vitolas. Your review reinforces that idea. 1

The rinsing or dipping in water is to hydrate the wrapper a little as most of the 10+ year old smokes I have had had very dry, brittle and peeling wrappers, so a quick dunk or rinse was recommended by quite a few people Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I have only tried it a few times. Never once did it harm the cigar. I've had a few issues in the past with older cigars and wrappers splitting. I've never had that issue from a rinsed cigar. That is my only reason. The SLR was absolutely wonderful with the rinse. It likely would have been absolutely wonderful without it. 1

Bagman Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 I have since done a few more with good results. I'll report back with future reviews on this rinse process.
Doctorossi Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Thanks for the review (and for adding yet more fodder to the never-ending water rinse debate/discussion). I have some '07s that underwhelm me and some '09s that I haven't tried yet. Does anyone have any opinions or thoughts on the '09s?

Was able to acquire most of an ‘08 50 cab and several dress boxes before they went away. I also really liked the Churchill and Lonsdale.
Hollywood Ninja Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 So with the rinse, are you patting it off on a paper towel or just giving it a little air time before lighting?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just lightly patted the cigar with the paper towel. Waited about 15 minutes to dry off a little further. It wasn't like the cigar was really wet anyhow 30 seconds after I finished the rinse. 2
