Popular Post benfica_77 Posted September 22, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2021 Now that Canada has no more official La Casa Del Habanos stores since the Montreal and Toronto locations closed. Also with the annoying plain packaging rules here in Canada will there be ever another Canadian regional? The last one was the Diplomaticos Nortenos. Prez and Ken did a review of them. I have one box to smoke and another to save as a collector item if its the last one ever. 5
Bijan Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Maybe they could do it through the duty free. Haven't travelled in a while and don't know if they have them plain packaged in duty free, or if they even still sell cigars in duty free. I'm headed to Greece out of Toronto this Friday, I'll take a look and see what it looks like. Edit: Looks like duty free stores are plain packaging too: https://cigarchief.com/news/plain-packaging-cigars-canada/ 4
LLC Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 I don’t think there will be another. I’ve really enjoyed the ones I’ve smoked and have enough I can keep enjoying them for a long time. 3 1

NSXCIGAR Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Depends on whether Havana House requests and pays for one. I doubt they will though since the added expense of plain packaging and the lack of visual appeal could be a serious obstacle in moving 60K+ sticks at a premium price. 4

They could take those and sell them as the “El Mondo” release. We’ll collectively buy almost anything, don’t you think?
Cold Smoke Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Packaged like a box of suppositories with a price to match; I think REs are done in Canada.
Mikepd Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 If Havana House was brilliant, they would request a corona, lonsdale, lancero, or a panetela as a regional in a 25slb w/o bands, and they would sell like hotcakes, even with plain packaging. Hell, put in a redemption card in the box (with a matching number to the box) to send in to HH for bands for $50, as a promotional product, and that would sell them even hotter! 2

I think the redemption idea might not be legal in Canada (at least not for free). But let's be honest, regionals sell all over the place not just in their own region, so it could definitely work, with some small print saying offer not valid in Canada.
Popular Post ATGroom Posted September 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2021 The distributors can sell regionals to each other, and one of the south American ones a couple of years ago was by all accounts non-existent in its region but widely available in Switzerland. So I'd say anything has a shot for that reason, if one of the other distributors wants a third regional for whatever reason one year the Canadian slot is effectively for sale. 2 3
