Popular Post ChangBang Posted July 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2021 Finally finished with my hell week of 72hrs of 12hr shifts doing both day and night shifts! Usually I go right to bed and am dead to the world for 12hours, but I've been looking forward to trying out this siglo III that's been in my dry box for a week...so here we go! Give it a straight cut and it's a perfect draw. Managed to crack the head a little, so put on a little cigar glue and let that dry. Pairing this with a watermelon monster energy as I'm fading haha. Give it a light and we're off - it's 05:39 1 - Starts off with a strong lemongrass with a smooth retro. The lemongrass fades a little and is replaced by a strong vanilla flavor for a few puffs which is delicious. The lemon reappears with a tinge of grass. Not sure if it's due to my drink pairing, but I'm getting a cotton candy like aftertaste. The lemon sticks around and goes lemon-y rich tobacco followed by lemon honeysuckle. I'm smoking this way too fast with a bitter note here and there and start pacing myself, taking a draw every minute. 2- The flavor profile changes to a more savory note with what I think is a licorice anise savoryness. There's a roasted flavor that I can't put my finger on...looking at the flavor wheel, I can only describe it as a roasted wood but something else that is sooo good. Flavor eventually goes into a semi-sweet pastry to a sweet brioche/bread/croissant? 3 - It's back to dessert and I'm getting a nice sweeter bready richness to the cigar. Then it goes back to a fruity profile...plum and lemon? Kind of reminds me of a RAG with more of a lemon profile. Ends on a pancake-y note that is wonderful. Pull out the draw tool because this is too good to stop. I'm starting to get the head bobs and it's time to sleep, I can only hope that I dream of this cigar! End time of 07:05. Total smoke time 1hr 26min. Overall this cigar gets 9/10 - tied with the best cigar I've ever had in an aged BRC. Very different cigars but daaaamn this was such a nice cigar! I only picked up a 1/4 box, smoked one and sent the other in a PIF package. I'll want to smoke another to see if it matches this but I can definitely see myself getting a box or two of these! 16
smbauerllc Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Nice review. How do you feel the Siglo III compares to the II's taste-wise? Same taste in just a larger size? Or different tastes and/or complexity and transitions? I smoke a lot of the II's and love them. Only Cohiba that I keep more than 1 or 2 on hand. Usual vendor is out of stock on the II's , so am considering getting some III's instead. As long as the taste is similar, I may switch to III's exclusively for the larger size and smoke time. Chibearsv Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Nice review. At around $20 a pop, the Sig III is a terrific cigar. Especially since they always seem to be available. And yes, I predict the next one you have will be terrific as well. 1
Kaptain Karl Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Amazing review on such a young sig III!!! Makes me excited I have 2 boxes from last fall resting! 1
karp Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Thanks for the review! Good to know. I’ve enjoyed the Siglo II and Robustos recently, despite their premium price they have their own flavour niche which is indeed worthwhile. 1

Thanks Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Looked at my records and doesn't seem like I've had a siglo 2. Have had a siglo 1 and 6 though - siglo 1 had a faint lemongrass flavor and to me would be more comparable to a CoRo vs a 3. Siglo 6 had more of a pancake and citrus zest to it - which leads me to believe Siglos are not necessarily the same profile and just different sizes. I remember when the 3's were on 24:24, Prez described 3's as a cross between a CCE and...6? I remember def was one side of the comparison was CCE as I had CCE's in my email before I read that statement and changed my order to 3's. Maybe see if someone can pull up a historical siglo 3 description in the chatbox?

Will be ordering some III'S soon as my regular vendor is out of stock on II'S currently, and the price difference isn't much, and the larger size compared to the II'S will be nice.Have a no.5 I was gifted that I will be trying out eventually and will get to compare different tastes in different vitolas in the Siglo line.Haven't ever had any except for the II'S Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

A full box of Cubans is my absolute minimum before I start offering opinions to others, maybe less is needed with NC's but I dont smoke many, so I rarely offer any feedback on them. The blends are definitely different for the different RG cigars in the line, but the 1-3 and V offer an interesting comparison. 40-43 RG and about an inch longer as you move up the range. I don't smoke much Cohiba at all, but its the III and the Lancero that I reach for if I do. Sig II is a great "go to" Mareva for long breakfasts and the last rum of the evening in Cuba, but I cant say Lemongrass is a flavor that I associate with the cigar. Despite that being a "hallmark" of Cohiba.
