I know this is somewhat subjective but I'd still like to hear a few opinions on how consistent the Perlas are, meaning: do you think it's a cigar that really benefits from being selected (whether in person at B&M or by buying PSP/HQ on 24:24) or do you find that it's fairly consistently good even when bought blind without huge variations from box to box?

I want to try some and I'm trying to decide if I should wait until they pop up on 24:24 (I know they did a few weeks ago but it seems infrequent) or buy them blind (in that case I have the option of getting ARS FEB 19 boxes, and it was my understanding that ARS did a pretty good job overall in 18/19).

Thanks!

Unlike the cheaper cigars like Mille Fleurs etc (especially Partagas cheapies) I haven't had construction issues with them. There are often some real deals to be had on these, RGPC, BPC and the 4 minutos.

I have bought a couple of boxes blind.    They had several years of age and were outstanding without exception.

Yes I got a couple of 2018 boxes blind last year, and this year I got a 2013 box blind as well, which was a pleasant surprise.

Thanks guys! So were they consistent both in construction and also flavor? Hearing your opinions so far I’m leaning towards buying some blind… I think in the 6-8 months that I have been following 24:24 I’ve only seen them once and I’m a bit impatient to stash some aside for the fall (which is when I’ll resume smoking more regularly).

For me RGP and RGPC have been as consistent as CCs can be. Though again they are CCs, so no guarantees :)

They are not all perfect, but they seem pretty consistent to me. And cheap, so not the end of the world if you have a few duds.

Rafael Gonzalez PC's are one of the bargains left in the CC world. Never had the perlas.

ARS boxes? Hmmm...that's a code famous for a great run of 2017 Trinidad Fundadores. I've not heard of this code being used for Rafael Gonzalez stock. Sounds interesting!

Like other members, I've had positive experiences with both Rafael Gonzalez Petit Coronas and Perlas in the past too.

Thanks! I know about the  good run with ARS and Trinidads, which is why I was leaning towards that box code, even though I'm aware box codes don't mean all that much. The other box codes I saw for the Perlas (ASR, LGB, LMB, REG, SOP, TUE) I've seen before but I've never read anything noteworthy for those.
