ROTT Review: La Flor de Cano Elegidos LGB NOV 20

Arrived today just as I was about to head out for a walk after work so I thought I'd give one a try. These are the new FdC and haven't yet had a review (probably).
'Rustic' is the word that sprung to mind on opening the box. Gnarly wrappers but look and feel well made with that short filler sponginess, consistent along the length of the cigar. V cut and the draw is perfect. Strong barnyard goodness emanating from the head, distinctly Cuban.
On lighting I was pleasantly surprised with a slight dark fruit note behind what can only be described as tobacco. I know, but it is what it is. Lit well and burned well throughout. The ash was light and flakey which was to be expected.
Medium in body with good smoke output.
Flavourwise there's not a lot to tell. Definite dark fruit tones, no pepper or spice, vegetal in the main, maybe leather occasionally. I don't know what the FdC profile is meant to be and the only FdC I've had before is a single Gloriosos - 2013 ER (my only note says 'average').
The only comparison I can make is with the Quintero Favorito in that it's short filler and robustoesque. Very similar, possibly better, but both have that muted feel to them with hints of promise that never quite emerge.
It's a yard 'gar. To be smoked whilst doing something else to occupy your mind. I can see a lot of these going on fishing trips as the 10c box is compact and practical.
So, not bad, not great but more than acceptable for the price (these were $118 for 2 boxes on FoH). Smoking time - about 2½ miles.

It's a recent change to combat the box code being covered up by bigger warning stickers these days.

Great review. I almost bought these until I noticed they are short filler.

@PigFish must have inspired this cigar. Textbook stick a turd in a nice box job. 

This kind of stuff is HSA at it's worst. What a missed opportunity to revive a classic brand. Maybe they could charge a little more for their occasional LFDC ERs if the brand wasn't such a joke. 

Don't know why this is the only TC brand that they try and hawk ERs with. Totally schizophrenic.
