Popular Post RDB Posted March 6, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 6, 2021 Very young, and only a month or so after shipping, but it’s my first time with this cigar and I just really felt like it. Absolutely delicious. @99call may have influenced me here, but this was totally in the zone of lavender and furniture polish. Alpine flowers, northern herbs. Fragrant young freshly sawn wood - a touch of pine but not astringent. Quite mild bodied but full of flavour. No family similarity with Monte at all, and not really with Partagas either: definitely its own unique thing. Complex yes, but not much evolution. Low to moderate strength but I didn’t get to the last third because it was cold outside. This was very well behaved for such a young smoke. No bitterness. Great burn, tons of smoke and excellent construction. Delighted, just delighted with this. No need to wait on this box. Score a strong 1 on the binary scale. 14
JohnS Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Had one a few days ago that was the same, mild-bodied and full of flavour...and it was from mid-2014! 🤣 😂 Thank you for the review! 👍 3
Akela3rd Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I had one this evening with the same box code and it was glorious. I'd planned to review it for the comp like your good self, but in the end just enjoyed it right to the nub with a good fire on the go. Sent by spooky action at a distance 3

99call Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 nice review @RDB I'm glad you got that Pledge lavender polish note, It's really interesting going back and smoking Dip 4's and Dip 3's, the blend (for me) is a great deal more interesting, and Umami driven. I would definitely group it with unusual blends like Rafael Gonzalez, and Sancho Panza. Not that they bare any direct flavour similarity, but rather they are unusual, and bit more indirect in whats enjoyable about them. More recently with the Dip 2's I can see that slight sourdoughy Partagas thing, but it's something I pick up as a much more background flavour. I hope Diplomaticos hangs onto it's unusual blend, and resists the temptation to 'cave to the caramel'. It's stunning that they can manage to create tobacco with piney herbal resinous notes, lavender, nutmeg, rich floral smelling polished furniture. If you've got it flaunt it. It would be so sad to see blending like this got eradicated, just because it's a little strange. 3
Sandman Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Smoked a RAT Dip 2 recently. Loved it! Tasted like it had years of age on it.
