Churchill inspecting some Montecristos

Just saw this today, I don't believe it's a well known photo of Churchill.   This original photograph of him in Havana, shows him inspecting what looks like a gift humi of 500 monte 2's

God I wish I was gifted cigars wherever I went!

this from the international churchill society about that visit. interesting that they mention 500 R&J and not the montes.

Great piece Ken, seems to suggest he was 'showered' with gifts of cigars. Maybe he got a 500 humi of every brand going.  Imagine getting an ocean liner cruise or private plane back the the UK,  and you can barely get into your cabin for personalised giant humidors.    What an existence.  truly off the scale.

I remember doing a job for Churchills grandson years ago in Pimlico.  He confessed to me.  "Wherever I go I'm given cigars, and I don't even smoke". The apartment was full of unopened 3packs etc  I remember thinking "I hate you".
