99call Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Anyone played around with these yet as cigar pairings? they do look interesting. I only ever usually do Coke Zero, as it seems a lot thinner, more thirst quenching, and obviously less sweet. What say you FOH? are they just a gimmick? 1 1
Colt45 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 To be honest, I can't remember the last time I've had any kind of soda. My substitute for mixing has been limeade or a similar type of juice. Of the above, I've not mixed anything with cognac or scotch. Golden tequila?!? 1

I never use coke as a mixer for spirits........unless already drunk Ha!. I more meant as just drinking coke on its own with cigars. The Herbal one might be quite interesting with Vegueros, Cohiba, Quai D'Orsay etc etc? The Spicy one with Partagas, Bolivar, Por Larranaga? The Woody one with Punch, Hoyo, Fonseca? I may have be that chimp astronaut and report back
Goodfortune Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Very interesting, never seen this before.... Since it’s before noon, I decided to throw a splash of Coke Zero in my Crown Royal this morning. Pairing well so far with my RASS 1
CaptainQuintero Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I picked up one of each at Christmas just to try them as drinks themselves I still have two I've not tried in the fridge. It doesn't speak much to them that they've been sat for over 4 months. They just tasted chemically and a bit off to me. They didn't particularly strike me as something with enough character to influence a cigar nevermind a cocktail etc

Thank you for boldly going......sounds like you've saved us a lot of hurt
CaptainQuintero Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I just went to the fridge for you, I've had the strangely titled "smoky" and the "herbal" as I thought they sounded the most interesting. I just remember that they tasted neither smokey or herbal.

Just having a little laugh to myself re golden tequila - makes me think of one which in the past, I've had my share of, but don't consider all that good. As for pairings, I'm of the basic idea that it's always a good idea to start with cigars and beverages one enjoys. After that, it's deciding what works for you.
Skypilot Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I have not seen these anywhere but if I came across them I would definitely give them a try. In most cases it's tough to beat an original though.
saintsmokealot Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Probably pass on these but the Coke Classic bottle made in Mexico is a great cigar pairing 3

Oscar300 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I tried them last year, bloody awful, passed the rest on to the family ? 1
Benson Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Damn I saw this and was a little hopeful, love pairing a craft soda with afternoon smokes, probably the only time I have soda anymore.
