Joeysmoke Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Hey gang! I've got wedding nuptials on the horizon and I'll likely have a couple boxes of something special to mark the occasion. Which premium stick would you sock away to smoke one per year for 20-25 years? I know full well that the cigar is likely to be on the downslope after 10 years or so, but I'm interested in which cigars you think will have the power/body/flavor to take a long rest. Thanks a lot for chiming in!
La_Tigre Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I got a box of PSP Rio Seco for my birthday(s)... 1
Wertman Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 @Joeysmoke what is your favorite vitola? And why? Just wanna help you better. I love psd4. It’s a regular cigar And better with age. 1
Puros Y Vino Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 You want to sock away something that will have "legs" to age. There's no set list, but there are some good suggestions. Here's mine and why. H Upmann Sir Winstons. Classic Churchill sized cigar. I've smoked stock from 1975 that is stellar today. Cohiba Esplendido. Another Churchill sized stick. This one has a far stronger blend of any other Cuban Churchill IMO. This will be glorious fresh and over time. Cohiba Lancero. Not as bold as the Esplendido but a good aging cigar. Also, look to what you like to smoke and post them up here. Members can give you their experiences on how some of them have aged. In general, look for something medium to full bodied. 2
Mikeltee Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Just about any long filler cigar will age well. It all depends on how much you want to spend. $1000 for some behikes? $700 for some Lanceros? $400 for some Robustos? Those are all great Cohiba choices and are timeless. I'd get 10 Behikes and on the 10th anniversary pick the latest and greatest. In order to age that long your environment has to be spot on perfect. You may also consider vacuum sealing singles as they will take longer to develope and hopefully not be overdeveloped. With a box of 25, I'd seal 20 of them.
Joeysmoke Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 Definitely agree that the cigars need to have the "legs" to carry on through years 10-25. Nothing is off limits, love certain vitals from all marcas. I've been smoking for 15ish years now, some favourites of late: Punch Punch Upmann Conny A As much as I can smoke my way through a box of those quickly, I wouldn't say that those two would resemble what they are now, in 10 years. Likely on the list for potentials to age: CoRo Sir Winny Cohiba Lanceros Monte 2
CaptainQuintero Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 If you buy well and store well then nothing will be going downhill until you hit many decades down the line. Don't stress too much, just pick your favourite and keep them stored carefull 3
