I'm noticing the instagram cigar celebrity wannabes having a centrofinos in hand here and there. Anyone here had one yet?

and if so, is it any different from the rest of them?

I have not, but I'm liking that size

I wonder if it's got that over-grassy flavor which I seem to taste in Vegueros, and caused me to give up on the brand.

What do you taste with Vegueros?

Certainly get that grassy flavor, but I taste more like a spearmint type of note. I do enjoy them for a quick smoke.  Depending on the wrapper, the lighter more colorado wrapper has been less grassy and more cream/nuts/spearmint

All the Vegueros "new" releases (2014+) have been in sixteen count tin or cardboard boxes.

I have smoked through a box of the Tapados and they are a completely different (and much better) experience as they age.   I enjoy the 2015s, and I think they will get even better with a couple more years under their belt.

I have a tin of the centrofinos resting--don't plan on trying them for a couple of years (unless someone here convinces me it is a good idea).  ?

That's an interesting flavor combo.  I'm curious once again, maybe it's time to grab a small box.  Which Vegueros do you get that with most?

I think you should try at least one soon, so you can compare the evolution over time.

I have only ever smoked the mañanitas. They all have had that spearmint flavor. My 2014’s (lighter wrapper) is where I get more of the creamy nuttiness mixing in. The 2016’s (darker wrapper) is where I get more of the oak and cedar in the profile. Cheap enough to take a flier on - worst case you have a dog walker or yard gar

@HumidorJuan my apologies if I hijacked the thread. I'm now curious about those Centrofinos too.  Wonder if El Pres will ever offer them on 24:24.

Why does he have to be a instagram cigar celebrity wannabe? He owns a LCDH, And obviously it prompted you to ask about the cigar because you might have interest.

I have a tin of gorgeously dark chocolate wrapped looking  BMP MAY 17 Mananitas and I was thinking they'd be anything more than the same old grassy and....nope same old. Looking forward to the Centrofinos tho. I'll most likely smoke it too young

I finally pulled one out today--in your face strong, grassy and one dimensional--probably because it is so young.        Most folks around here will not like them, but they do have aging potential imho.

I know I'm not the only with OCD on here....Cetrofinos! Lol this is actually one marca I've yet to try, or If I have tried, it was just a single here or there and unremarkable. I'll grab some of these next time I see them. Now if anyone has a line on the ol' Vegueros Especiales line...

I've had some. Similar to the Tapados IMO. I still think the Entretiempos are the best of the line, but TBH I haven't been overly impressed with the blend since the re-release.

Yes, there's some grassiness but not like the old Vegueros/Cohiba grassiness (which has almost totally disappeared in Cohiba these days). The old grassiness was fresh. Clean and rich. Very pleasant. Now it's more of a dry, hay-like grassiness. Like the taste of grass as opposed to the smell of grass. I can totally understand the descriptions of "spearmint". It's a little sharp. Not that pleasant IMO.

And I think the packaging format which was ostensibly designed for uniqueness has been misinterpreted as cheap by the general public. Tins just scream budget cigar for some reason. Kind of considered along with JLP and Quintero. It's too bad since the original formats were quite classy. Laguito No. 1 & 2, a Seaone and a Marevas in nice SBN boxes.

Interestingly, I always thought of Vegueros and Cohiba as related. I always found their respective blends were counterparts--Cohiba 80% bean, 20% grassiness and Vegueros 80% grassiness and 20% bean, both high quality. Now they have nothing in common.

Yes, I would concur. In my mind, the Siglo line had more Cohiba grassiness 10 to 15 years ago than at present.

I just had my first Centrofinos last night, and I was pleased.  My petacas are from January 2021. They seem well constructed with attractive chocolate brown wrappers.  The example I smoked had a fairly open draw.  I found it to be a very pleasing mid-bodied cigar.  It did not have the grassy taste that I've found in some of the other Vegueros releases. It didn't wow me with with complexity, but it didn't have many rough edges either.  This is my new benchmark for modestly-priced Habanos.
