dangolf18 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 I'm headed to Amsterdam this weekend and making my way down to Munch for Oktoberfest. I'm going to do my own research, but if anybody has any must-see shops or recommendations let me know! And if any fellow BOTLs would like to possible meetup for a smoke, let me know. Planning on driving most of the way and spending 3-4 days in each city. Thanks!
shippers Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Amsterdam has a great casa inside a hotel and prices are pretty reasonable for Europe. I would definitely check it out. Also, Cigaragua is a really nice shop dedicated to Nicaragua. It had a great lounge in it which I didn't have time to stop in but the selection is huge. Both are must visits for me. 1
JayHabanos Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 As mentioned check out the LCDH in the Conservatorium Hotel, Hartman cigars is also another shop that same owner has in Amsterdam. 1
bwgan Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Cologne - Peter Heinrichs is a must. Small smoking area that can get very smoky very quickly. If you are there, Dusseldorf is only a 30min train ride away with Selected Cigars and cigarworld. Cigarworld smoking lounge is great and they have nice wheat beer!Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
bwgan Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Also from cologne to Munich take a detour to Koblenz.. Pipe house cigar shop is really old school with a very generous owner. The winner in Koblenz is fantastic too. Decent hotel next to the train station looking at the castleSent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Nino Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 In AMS also make sure to visit the LCDH Almere, a short train ride away, great people ! Cologne : LCDH Peter Heinrichs - best place. As already mentioned : Koblenz is a good and large place, 3 stories. If you drive and have 3-4 days in each city, visit also the small & cozy LCDH Kaiserslautern and the one in Saarbrücken - both are good, cozy and run by great people.
BrightonCorgi Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 P.G.C Hajenius in Amsterdam is one of the most famous & heralded cigar shops in all of Europe. Very old and beautiful. Could be one of the coolest cigar shops in world. Walking distance from the central train station. A must visit. I like their own brand short filler cigars that contain some Cuban tobacco in their blend. https://www.hajenius.com/en/ 1
Subcomandante Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 I got a family member visiting Cologne and Amsterdam. Going to try and visit an LCDH in one and bring me back a box of regionals. Would you recommend one over the other? Better chance of regionals or selection? Better prices ie. less taxes?

Can't comment on Amsterdam, but the Casa in Cologne has a good stock of both regional and limited editions. Tell your relative to talk to a bloke called "Malek" -- sometimes he has aged and rare stock he is re-selling for regular customers. If your relative is also a BOTL, there is a smoking room in the basement with comfy chairs, beer (hey, it's Germany!) and rum ... 1 1
Booyaa Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 The LCDH and Cigaragua in Amsterdam are right across the street from each other, both good shops. The PGC one I didn't find to be much cop but a must see no e the less, magnificent shop and staff but I thought a pretty poor selection.Take a drive, or train ride over to Almere too, really good guys in the LCDH there. Super friendly and helpful and Almere has so. E amazing coffee and tea shops (the drinking kind) despite it being a bit of a nothing town.Journey sounds great, hope you have a great time. 1

And Malek is a good bloke, super friendly and extremely helpful. Always happy to be there ! 1 1
cigcars Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Hey! When you get to Amsterdam - and that's if it's still there - be sure to visit Madurodam! It's an entire miniature version of the entire city of Amsterdam. It's quite thrilling and beautiful to go through - but everything is miniaturized...they even have a miniature car accident with the ambulance personnel taking someone off on a stretcher - all the size of Lilliput! Quite a gas. It was 1979 when I visited on the Tours given to military personnel. Sure hope it's still there! And - MAN, as I've lamented before...if only I'd known then what I know now concerning delicious, highly coveted Habanos!

joey rockets Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 It's been nearly 15 years since my last visit to Amsterdam but when I was single, I used to visit the city 3 times a year sometimes. The Dutch were sea faring merchants and the quality of their shops reflects this fact but the duty free shop at Schiphol Airport once had the finest selection of Cubans of any of the duty free locales that I visited.

Schiphol was decent 3-4 yrs ago from what I remember. Alas, no longer
Euripidespants Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 In Stuttgart a friend took me to Tabacum. Excellent place. Great selection and got to have quality drinks in the smoking lounge with a quality cigar... Swabian cuisine is outstanding. Had excellent maultaschen at Sanwald. Also excellent meal at a place called schellenturm. 1
