Cigar Surgeon Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 This cropped up today as a result of the new Star Wars teaser and some scenes it had. Someone made a funny GIF based on one of the scenes and someone complained that it spoiled the movie for them as they didn't know this scene was going to be in it. Now I'm probably pretty sensitive on the spoiler scale, I absolutely hate running smack dab in TV or movie spoilers on news sites or Facebook feeds, but to me if you're watching a movie trailer aren't you already setting yourself up for spoilers?
inter4alia Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 If I know I want to see a particular movie, I will avoid any discussion of it and I will even avoid trailers. So, I do view trailers as potential spoilers in some small way. 2
Fuzz AI Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Was watching cable TV last night (Foxtel, in Aus), and a promo for Avengers: Endgame came up. Now, I've already seen it, so no surprises there, but one scene in the promo gave away the ending. If I had seen that before watching the movie, I'd be royally pissed off.
BrightonCorgi Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I forget what what happened in the trailer by the time I am watching the movie. Trailer's work as they are designed.
Hollywood Ninja Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Lately it seems like trailers are playing way too many of the bad ass scenes that I’d rather discover while watching the moving. I try and watch as little of the trailer as possible. I’d skip them entirely but sometimes my wife needs convincing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Islandboy Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 As movies go, I’ve always preferred comedies, which seems to be a lost art (oh how I miss Steve Martin in his glory days). Seems more often than not if I watch the trailer of any current comedy, I’ve basically seen all the funny bits. 2

irratebass Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Like some of you have already mentioned I will avoid trailers if it's a movie I really want to see, that goes for news articles, reviews, and social medias. This also pertains to video games, because I don't want it to be spoiled for me. So I seen the new Star Wars teaser.....that's enough for me.
NYMets01 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I don't think they spoil the film. Trailers seem so aggressively edited that I often find it hard to tell if certain events happen in a sequence or are just clipped together. Even still, a movie is so much more than its ending that even in situations where I already know how things are going to play out, I still enjoy watching the progression to getting there.
bbguardsp Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Not so much myself but a friend of mine always brings headphones into the theater to listen to music with his eyes closed as not to spoil anything whatsoever lol.
Colt45 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Never gave it much thought, but I'd say no. One could tell me how a movie ends, and I'd still want to watch it myself.
PigFish Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 While off topic... it is what the people in Follywood do in their spare time that spoils movies for me! Carry on! -the Pig 1
