that I either brush my teeth with Shave or shave with Colgate. Or both.

It's only going to take a morning after one heavy night on the drink methinks. I love Shave. It's cheap, about $2.50 and works a treat. Better than a lot of more expensive products I've used. But they could probably upgrade their old toothpaste tube packaging a wee bit. 

Anyone out there suffered a mistake or close call like this? Please share.

I just did that with hydrocortisone. It was in my travel bag and sure looked like the toothpaste tube. I realized pretty quickly, but not before I got a couple brushes in.?

Never made the mistake, but there is an old large format darkroom trick that involves KY Jelly.  It would certainly turn some heads when you pulled out a tube of lube while working on negatives.

this may be a bit off the mark but:

When I was living in St. John's Newfoundland I was Broke. not tight on cash but BROKE, broke as a bone, and I had a very specific budget grocery list. The crown jewel of my food during the week was Chicken Fajitas on Friday night with a bottle of white Wine. and we all know how important treating ourselves is when times are tough, I just looked forward to it all week. I was so hard up I had to get creative and started using plain balkan yogurt in place of sour cream. Delicious stuff. All is well, fajita is prepped, and assembled, and I take my first huge glorious bite of my Chicken Fajita...only to discover I accidentally purchased VANILLA YOGURT instead of plain. We are talking orange juice and toothpaste level of wrong.  still shaking my head.

I was half asleep (My excuse) just a few weeks ago and instead of using deodorant spray, I accidentally used Hairspray on my underarms.

I've managed not to make this mistake myself. but others have. 

In doing AFT (Antarctic field training).  you have to have both your wee, and water bottles inside the polar tent, as they would obviously freeze otherwise.  Anyway, you think to yourself "right, I'll put my wee bottle on the right side of the exit and my water of the left"   Problem is, you often have to share tents, and if you're poor communicators or don't get on.....sometimes people fail to realise your co-habitor has gone, piss on the left, and water on the right. 

You might think it's impossible to lift a a bottle of wee to your mouth and drink it,  but A, when super cold, there is hardly any aroma, and B, you get so dehydrated in Antartica, people often wake up like they're dying and grab they're water bottle like it's life elixir,   before you know it, they've downed 100ml of either your own, or someone else's piss.

My parents were over a few months ago. In the morning my dad mentioned that the toothpaste downstairs was horrible. I was confused, we don't keep toothpaste downstairs. Human toothpaste that is, my wife brushes our dogs teeth. Chicken flavored dog toothpaste is not recommended for humans haha! I couldn't stop laughing for a while.

Similar to that, my grandma bought dog treats that looked like Oreo cookies. My brother ate an entire sleeve of them, then remarked they were a little stale.
