Is there a thread or forum for users to split boxes sold on 24:24? If anyone is interested in starting a discord or subreddit to do so, let me know!

There is a trading room forum but it requires 6 months of membership and a minimum of 100 posts to access.

In addition to the trading room, box splits often occur on the Cigar Underground forums that have a lower threshold of participation, 30 posts and 60 days of membership. These box split are intended for 24:24 stock recently offered, not random box splits.

Anyone who meets these requirements can participate in a split. However, you must have 4 months of membership to propose a split.

In the last two months I would estimate that there have been 6-8 box splits on the US sub-forum. I have participated in at least 4 of them, all were successful and well organized and executed.

Also, El Prez often offers a quarter box option on 24:24, so be on the lookout for those.

He's agreeing, and saying that there is very little time for people to make arrangements for box splits once 24:24 listings are posted, before everything sells out.

Okay. But, that is a non-issue. Splits just need to be posted within 24 hours of the close of the 24:24 when they are offered. I guess if someone wanted to get commitments from others for the split prior to buying from FoH, that would be very challenging.

Great info.  What are the dangers, if any, whether obvious and not-obvious, of participating in a split?

Yeah man, look out for Quarter boxes on 24:24. Take a screen shot of what you order so you have the code and box date. Always a good way to find what you really like.

You don’t get the whole box.   ?

From a historical perspective there's never been an issue filling slots for a box split, usually faster than the box sold for on the 24/24.

Splitter will typically wait until the box arrives for participants to pony up and then he splits them up and ships them out.

Only real risk is if someone pays for their share of a spilt and the splitter fails to deliver.

Doubt they'd last around here long enough to try that scheme out more than once.
