not if you have them in the rookie years. the money relly only gets sill after four years, give or take.

understand all too well about starting over but all the answers i get - with the greatest of respect - from yourself and others all comes with "if". if he does this, if he does that. if he turns into tom brady then sure.

i'm going on what you have and have seen, not if my aunt was uncle stuff.

now, if he plays well, fine. and you guys should end up at least near mid table. but if for whatever reason, things go as they might and you finish low - even if it be because of injuries or other reasons. so you have a good draft pick, in the top couple. do you pay winston or go draft? or elsewhere?

From what I've read the QB class next year is weak. I would offer him lower-end $$$ contract and let him test FA. If someone wants him let him walk, if they don't then resign him and draft a potential successor (not necessarily in the first round).

which is a good strategy but someone is very likely to pay big dosh.

i had read that it was a good class? but i guess at this stage, easy to get every opinion.

sadly, i am on a plane when the skins kick off.

QBs get paid.  It seems like every QB extension sets the record.  Wasn't Stafford the top paid QB like 2 years ago and everyone shit on the contract?  Now he's middle tier.  Rodgers was paid well, then he he was underpaid, now he's rich again.

Jimmy G got paid a ton of money from SF and he has less than a full season of starts under his belt.

I think you'll win 5/6 games. Do you think Mayfield will overtake Taylor on the depth chart this season?

I think you’re right about winning 5 or 6 games this year. They have improved dramatically. I think Mayfield will eventually get his reps and overtake Taylor although I hope they take their time with him. Mayfield is a locker room guy.. teammates gravitate to him, he’s a natural leader, and I think it’s only a matter of time before the offense is his. Not to take away anything from Taylor..

Psyched about the season starting.  I'm so anxious and nervous about Watson -- that 5-6 game stretch was one of the most exciting I've had as a Texans fan in a long time. I hope he can come back and play again at that level. If he does, it goes without saying we are a major contender.  JJ will never be the same, but if we can get 70% of what he used to be, he will still make a difference.  Great defensive adds to the roster and our front 4 are menacing.  I'm excited.... and very nervous...

So sad what happened to Watt as he was such an amazing talent and is obviously a fantastic human being.  He's pretty damn impossible to root against no matter who you cheer for.  Watson's the real deal.  His stats in college looked worse than they could have because he was relied on to win some close games when the running game wasn't working other than his own legs, and he got taken out pretty early into garbage time because that's how Dabo Swinney coaches.  He picked up the pro game quickly and already has chemistry with Hopkins.  Honestly think you guys are going to be this year's Eagles and are legit Superbowl contender.

Unfortunatlely, I don't see my Broncos making much noise this year.  We have a better QB, but the pass protection is still a serious problem and the running game is mediocre at best.  Defense has skill, but we're still missing Wade Phillips and how he brought that group together as a cohesive unit.  Time for my favourite time of year!

Big Niners fan here living in Bills Country. Flying out to California for my first home game against the Cardinals in about a month. Can't wait. Talking to my friends, I tell them were going to win 12 games. To be honest, I have no damn clue. There is no question this team is on the rise, but I feel like I have to temper my expectations.

Defense: Still no edge rusher. That'll be an issue. Reuben's off the field crap doesn't bother me as much as his injuries do. He is just an absolute missile. Secondary is young, and I question Sherms burst, but I think they'll be ok.

Offense: Can't not love JimmyG. His interceptions bother me a little, but I think(hope) that'll die down. Mckinnon's injury is a bummer. Was never totally sold on him, but this certainly doesn't help. There is no doubt he would've caught a ton of balls. Liking the young group of receivers for the most part. Goodwin seems to have really figured out how to hold on to the ball. He was dropping everything in Buffalo. We'll see tho. Lots of these can go one way or the other.

I don't think they really get blown out of any games to be honest. Maybe one. Am worried about starting in Minny, but with Jimmy, the dude just wins games.

They could win 10-12 games. I think they'll win 9. Not sure you get a wild card in the NFC this year with 9 wins. But watch out, Jimmy is going to win the Super Bowl with the Niners soon.

the falcons were a shell of themselves without Shanahan last year.

While this may be true, there is way too much talent on the offensive side of the ball.  And the defense 'should' be sniffing the top 5 in the league this year.  My only concerns are on the D-line.  I think (obviously as a fan) that the Falcons will return to their glory of 2 years ago and make it back to the big game ( I predicted an Houston v. Atlanta Superbowl in an earlier thread).  Can't wait for Thursday night!

FWIW, the Bucs look like a mess from the outside looking in.  I'm thinking closer to 6 wins this season.  Falcons go 11-5.  Take the OVER on the 9 total wins the wise guys are predicting.  Easy money there.

I'm surprised the Tampa Bay love from down under.  As an ex patriot(e) living in Falcons territory, I'm feeling pretty good about the season.  I don't think Atlanta has quite enough to get back to the super bowl, but I think the Patriots will be a contender until Brady and Belichick are gone.  The Browns were very interesting on Hard Knocks, but I think Hue doesn't make it through the whole season.

It's a favorite time of the year for me, happy football is back

First time in many years that I have been as excited for the start of a Bears season. Coach Nagy is a complete breath of fresh air and it has proved infectious across the entire organization.  Will that excitement last after a few losses?  Hopefully, the playoffs remain in sight as a realistic goal for the duration.

El Pres raised me as a bucs lifer. When we get bigged up we suck (like last year) and when everyone rights us off we seem to shine (year before last).

Bears are going to be legit.  That defense was top 10 last year and they added arguably the best defensive player out there.  Love Jordan Howard, love the additions of Burton and Robinson.  If Trubisky is even semi decent you will a solid team.  Nagy should be a great coach as well.  I'm a Pats fan, but adopted the Bears as my "NFC" team years back.  Mostly due to my love of Urlacher, and to a lesser extent Hester.

it is the ayala family. beyond that, australians have far more sense.

I'm slightly annoyed that I failed in putting my money down on the total points being under as tipped up previously on this very forum.

My bets for this year are the Browns won't be as good as everyone thinks, and thus should be taken on. My new local team is Buffalo,  where I went yesterday.  My prediction for them is also to be dire.

I'm looking forward to the whole spectacle....Apart from stupid celebrations, the politicisation of it all and the stupid bloody adverts every ten seconds.

what? one game and you are making space on the mantle piece?

and even then you gave up a 180 point lead and nearly lost it. still, a win is a win. does not bode well for the saints, though. are they that bad?

Always surprising, but this week was extra surprising to me.  Only the Browns can end the losing streak by tying.  And only the Lions can have the first play of the game be a pick 6, then have the other team know all their calls and plays and lose so horribly.

At least the Patriots won.  Bucs should ride Fitzmagic as long as they can, go Crimson!
