After a lot of shopping and looking my son bought this German shorthair pointer. She is 11 weeks old and already pointing birds. She loves people and is pure puppy, into everything. Loves to chew cigar butts, shoes, tree limbs and whatever else she can fit into her mouth. Her name is Larue Weller named after a favorite burbon. I am the designated dog sitter which I don’t mind at all. We figure she will be about 60 lbs when grown to adult size. Her parents are from national champion registered breeding stock. I feel sure she will provide all concerned parties years of pleasure

Congratulations! Great dog.

I’ve already decided that when my boy goes to the big car ride in the sky, I’ll be getting a breed similar to her - the Deutsche Drahthaar. After 10 years of working with a cattledog, I finally feel prepared to properly train a gundog, lol.

Beautiful pup! I'm waiting for the right time to get my next GSP and must admit a certain level of envy. Enjoy her!

Yeah, those dogs are bird fiends. We had one a while back that ended up going a little mental. Ok, she went a lot mental.... But she was a sweet and loving companion and an exceptional bird dog.

Thanks for comments. She has too speeds Wide open and asleep. Very high energy dog. I hunted with one for 5 years that a buddy owned. Many hours afield and some of my best memories were with that dog and my sons. Yes these dogs are completely mental when it comes to birds I have 2 families of birds nesting in my carport/ smoke patio. the dog goes crazy when she sees them. I dog sit this one whenever my son and his wife need a break usually twice a week. I am growing very attached to her. Who knows there may be another dog in my future. My beloved black lab was stolen a few years back and I have not been able to get my head around owning another dog until now

I was 16 when my GSP, Cactus Jack, was stole from us. He was a tall, lanky pooch whith tons of personality. My finest trained pointer, and compadre. It was no problem to romp around and play at the house with him. But, as soon as he left my door in a field, it was game time.

Absolutely awesome dogs, with a lot of energy, though. Keep that in mind.

Great story. My buddy had a GSP that I could use any time. I learned the sport with this dog. He would hunt to the ent of the earth to point or retrieve. He finally passed after 13 glorious years of service. This is why my son settled on a GSP.

BTW Love your handle. I am a dyed in the wool gun guy Love all types from Italian shotguns to black rifles to single action Colts. Also anything with HK stamped on the side. Great to hear from you

Congrats! Make sure you have a good routine to get that dog exercise if you don’t live in a rural area!

The pup goes back to the breeder for basic training the first wk of July. I have years if expierence with sporting breeds. No expense spared on this one. With the job situation the dog is never left caged  up or alone at least fir the first 6-9 months My sin works from home has his own business so the situation is ideal. You are so righ. I see people who buy these expensive hi strung purebred dogs   they spend a couple hours a day and leave them shut up while at work even as puppies and they wonder by they turn out to be ill mannered and uncontrollable. They are just like kids You have to invest the time in them Rest assured this one will get all necessary attention and training
