Eddie Jones's worst ever management decision!

Recommended Posts

Who knows what the delays looked like (coming back from Scotland), but when your driver says "why don't you get the train from Edinburgh to Manchester, then drive the rest of the way?" the correct response Eddie is "No!"

Eddie foolishly said on the matter ""I'm a human being. I don't consider myself any different from anyone else, so for me to travel on public transport I thought was OK," Eddie!!!! there's only "cattle class" in the UK. where the best way to survive your journey is to inhale 10 cans of hot Stella, and hope to pass out before you hit the first station.

And there goes that national pride that was looking up.

Morons.

Ahh mate, I wouldn't get down about that. If a national coach chooses to travel in economy class, and 'hangs on' to take selfies to obviously pissed up fans, Thats being conveniently filmed. hhhmmm? I wouldn't put it passed Eddie, and England rugby to want to paint a portrait of poor defenceless Eddie being victimised.

Call me old fashioned, but when I'm completely sober, and have a car waiting with an open door, I don't choose to linger with pissheads, I think there is more than a smidgin of Eddie wanting to 'let' a negative press story happen, as opposed to him being forced into any situation.

I’m more inclined to give Eddie the benefit of the doubt.

His comments after the game were generous to Scotland, and didn’t have the feel of a sore loser.

I know there are many out there who aren’t Eddie fans, but even they must acknowledge that, barring blips against the Irish and us, he’s done very good work with England.

I'm not saying he's not a great coach, in many ways I'm paying him credit. I think he's brave, intelligent bloke, I think in that situation, he basically thought, If I stand here for an extra couple of moments, whilst these guys are making dicks of themselves, it'll be good for him and England rugby, and bad for Scotland rugby/fans

Everything he does has nuance. when he said he was going to scrum train with the Georgians and not Wales, the wording was "we've chosen to train with a team that has a strong scrum". He's on it 24/7.

i think his only weakness, is he has a well documented history, of being too intense and eventually imploding.  The word coming out from ex England pro's is that he's training the England the team to death, when what they might really need is a day in the pub, and a day off.

Sorry I’m going to disagree. Anyone should be able to take public transport despite their job. I actually think it’s a good thing that he took the train rather than put a private car on ‘expenses’.

I’ve seen Eddie at premiership games and he has always been very unassuming, which goes somewhat against his persona in the press. While I am not his biggest fan and I am awaiting the typical Jones fallout with England, it must be acknowledged the good work he has done with the side and I thought he was pretty gracious in defeat against Scotland, particularly as the result came as a bit of a surprise (no disrespect intended to Scotland who thoroughly deserved the win). I’m not sure what should be expected of anyone in that position coming out of a train station? If he had ignored them/refused photographs then he would have been slammed for it.

Why would he choose to train scrums with wales during the six nations? I think you are looking too deeply into this.

Gavin Hastings may be a (deserved) hero in Scottish rugby but his comments and general dislike of England are ridiculous.

Haha! You’re probably right there!

I don’t mean to come off all prissy, mate.

That kind of fan behaviour is just something I associate more with football fans than rugby fans. We were always taught to leave the feuds on the field, and be classier off it.

Its the sort of behaviour that Scots are the first to get their knickers in a twist over if they see it from England fans.

The reason why I thought the Wales scrum comment had a bit of spice to it, was I believe the journo, asked "you've scrum trained with Wales, now Georgia, what the thoughts behind this Eddie" and the answer was "we've decided to train against a team with a strong scrum"

Listen, I think Eddie is great, he's very sharp, and he's basically an Aussie wicket keeper in a rugby coaches body.

Ha, with the amount of money England rugby has, i think they can stretch for a driver for Eddie, especially if he has a driver from Manc to Lnd anyway!

What I'm saying is,  I think those Scottish lads at Oxford road station have made complete dicks of themselves, but it also looks as if Eddie, is perposefuly choosing to take selfies with pissed up Scotland fans.......why!?  why not just get in the car and drive off.

I agree, any kind of hostile agro at rugby matches, is a worrying trend.

True, Eddie has a knack for using the media to good effect.

But then again, Eddie is an Australian, and Downunder has a fairly strong culture of not putting on airs, of being down with the boys (so to speak).  Taking a limo or a helicopter is not something that tends to be met with approval by the public here.  See also Malcolm Turnbull, the current prime minister, who is well known to be taking the bus to work rather than his government car...

DON'T YOU DARE!

as a aussie and a wicketkeeper (so technically an aussie wicketkeeper though not a keeper for australia, if that makes sense), i will not have the toxic hobbit associated with that proud tradition.

but yes, he should be able to take public transport and shame on those acting that way.

i did wonder if getting beaten by the scots was the first crack in the wall of eddie, which will lead to the inevitable. just remains to be seen if they can hold it together till the world cup.
