dicko Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Do you have a local cigar lounge? We have very few of these and they are often part time (in Australia). If you do, please describe it? Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
drsupremos Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 NYC as crazy as the tobacco laws are we have some great lounges. I personally go to grand Havana room (member here since 2014). It is amazing, I store some of my cigars there and there restaurant has top notch steaks and the lobster risotto is to die for. Here is a link to see what the main room and bar area looks like https://www.cigars-connect.com/new-york-the-grand-havana-room-an-exceptional-setting-for-cigar-lovers/ 1
Philc2001 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I have a nearby cigar lounge called "smoke on the water", it's in Weston, FL, about 10 miles from me. The law here allows smoking so long as they don't serve food, so they serve lots of beer, wine and liquor, but nothing to eat. They also have a stocked cigar humidor where they sell a very wide variety of NCs. https://www.yelp.com/biz/smoke-on-the-water-cigar-bar-weston-2 I got to this place about once every 6-8 weeks. You can't really sit inside for long, too smokey, but they have a wrap around patio right next to the lake so its nice outside usually, but in the summer it can be intolerable in the heat and humidity.
prodigy Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I just found this lounge 6 minutes down the road from my house. I'm not a member yet, but will be soon. You can bring your own liquor and smokes once you become a member. www.apexcigarlounge.comSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 1
HiPower Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 No lounges here within an hour and a half. Those available are small b&ms with minimal seating. Fine for a quick smoke when I go to pick up a few new things to try. The best around is still the front porch.
steelcity Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Several around me here in Tampa. Since the weather here has been optimal for smoking outside, my back patio is my favorite place. When the weather warms I'll be visiting the lounges. My favorite place is out on Clearwater Beach. Even before I started smoking I enjoyed going there because they always had good dark liquor and beer that I enjoyed, nice seating, A/C, TVs, and the owner always has some eye candy working.
kalibratecuba Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 There are a couple lounges in town. One has a regular group that occupies most of the space. A place I use to frequent closed down and had free pool/darts. The drink prices were from the 1980s. The place I go now is a whiskey bar with a large walk-in humidor: https://www.casablancacigarbar.com/I didn't like their rules when they first opened, but now they are now lax.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Popular Post cmbarton Posted February 6, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 6, 2018 My lounge is in the back of a steakhouse and plays live jazz, serves food and drinks, and has both dining areas and lounging areas! Dry aged ribeye and a Habano (or two) is my idea of a good evening! http://www.cigarloungeatchamberlains.com/ 11
SCgarman Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 We have them everywhere here in the USA. In the DC area and suburbs, tons of them. But I prefer to smoke at home by my lonesome unless attending a cigar event like meeting Hamlet doing a meet and greet somewhere. 2
BuzzArd Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Loads in the Phoenix area. I usually smoke in the car (my Mobile Smoking Lounge) or at home, but usually go to Ambassador or occasionally go to Fox's in Old Town Scottsdale. In fact I'll probably end up there this evening to wrap up office work before heading North...
Sigaar Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Very weak here north of Boston. Not aware of a decent one within 30 minutes of my house. There is one in north end of Boston, but I have no interest in heading into the city just to smoke a cigar.
luv2fly Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 There are several where I live but I do not attend. Most do not allow outside smokes as well as Cubans. I like to smoke at home or friends homes.
Magus Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 There are a number (dozen?) in my area [Houston, TX]. Have one I frequent once or twice a week that we keep a couple bottles of spirits in the our locker. The anti-smoking laws are weird so not many places both allow smoking and serve food/drink.
Corylax18 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 There are plenty in the Denver area, most are pretty simple B&Ms in strip malls. Nothing fancy, but most have walk ins and a seating area to smoke. There are also a few nicer ones. Churchill's, in the Brown Palace Hotel, and The Robusto Room are the only two that I really frequent, I prefer to smoke outside. Churchill's is great. Its in a very nice hotel, you can order food from either of the two restaurants in the building, very good liquor, wine and beer selection and they dont care if you bring your own. I was there with @fabes this weekend and the waitress actually complimented us on how good our cigars smelled. The Robusto Room is a totally different animal. Much cleaner more modern design. Half Cigar store, Half bar. No food, but there are about 20 restaurants within 2 miles. They also don't care what you bring/smoke and I actually bought my first Cuban from the owners private locker. They have music/DJs late night and the place turns into more of a club. During the day though, its pretty much all cigar smokers spread out watching sports. I know there are plenty of other good spots in town, I just dont know as much about them.
Ethernut Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 When in a city I don't know and looking for a place. I use Cigar Aficionado's Where to Smoke App. http://wts.cigaraficionado.com There is a local B&M called Schwabs that's been around forever and a Cigar Bar called Jakes here in Lexington. I don't frequent Schwabs enough to comment, been to Jakes a few times. Nice place with friendly staff but filtration is terrible. You can walk in, turn around, walk out and your clothes will smell like smoke till they're washed. That keeps me from wanting to frequent too often. Jakes is however linked heavily into our Bourbon scene here in KY. They have all of the white elephant stuff available to try for a price and run specials that are attractive from time to time. Good folks to get to know -
zeedubbya Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Very lacking around me. Some cigar lounges in Columbus (Ohio), but they’re either very small or have that shady feel of about to get robbed and/or first timers smoking ****** and giggling. A luxurious comfortable cigar lounge would be very successful around here I think. I am surprised no one has opened one up yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
zeedubbya Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Haha! The word starred out was hook ah. That’s really funny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Diabolicalpherpher Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Nothing compared with Australian tax but for the US, Chicago has a bunch of lounges for being a high tobacco tax area, (50cents per stick plus ~40% tax). In addition to an area for people who just bought a cigar to smoke, some have members only area and you buy admission/membership to smoke whatever sticks you bring. There are small stores fronts with a few stools/chairs to multi room lounges with gaming systems for patrons. Most have a cutting fee/ buy a stick and smoke your own type of deal. Some shops look the other way to regulars and just lets them smoke there. The law allows smoking indoors within an establishment if their total sales revenue comes mostly from tobacco. This means alcohol sales are no go so almost all are BYOB. 1
joeman Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 We have them but only membership ones in my town. I can drive 30 minutes to one that I can come and go as I please. It's open 9am-midnight most nights. It has several TVs that have sports on them. Leather chairs, ashtrays and the whole store is a humidor. Good times. Spend $10 and you can smoke there. They have coffee but alcohol is bring your own bottle.
CooGAR Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Many in Houston - most attached or part of the B&M cigar shops around here. Some are private and require a membership, others a public, and some shops have both private and public areas.
canadianbeaver Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 @Diabolicalpherpher as he said, my favorite spot in Chicago is at Iwan Ries. Tell Richard, the fellow who manages the corporate lounge that your friend Lisa from Ontario Canada says Hi. That is Mr beaver in the white shirt and another FOH guy in blue. 3
Popular Post canadianbeaver Posted February 6, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 6, 2018 Now, while we gotcha on the blower, should you find yourself in San Francisco, you lucky guys, check this place out. It is awesome. And if you are there on the right day you can meet FOH guys there who are wonderful. Like our friend Claus. The cigars the have are lovely NC's should you smoke all your BYO's. We shared ours and that is what happened. But what is really great is the choice of bourbons, which is as special to me. 8
