Mike can help you on the finer aspects. Just don't let him use "ridgy didge" to excess.....as is his want ;)

Yes....And apparently in Australia, it's considered poor form to call the waitress a prostitute.

As a young lad in Aussie, I got cornered by some gnarly old guy, who looked like an extra from Mad Max. He had been a bit weird up to that point, showing me around a hostel, when I was 90% sure he wasn't even an employee. Anyway the words rang out, as I had my back turned to him.

"D-ya drink Piss??"

In my best Hugh Grant I kind of just made a confused awkward noise  "AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaGGHH?????"  whilst looking for open doorways.

He repeated the question over and over, getting angrier and more instant, and confused. Finally he re-phrased

'Wots wrong with ya, do you drink beer or not?""

OHHHhhhh thank god a voice in my head muttered. He was just some alchie chancer, who was trying to engineer me to get a round in.
